STATE TURKEY CALLING & OWL HOOTING CHAMPIONSHIP
...conducted by the Illinois Chapter - National Wild Turkey Federation. Contest held Saturday, February 28nd (tentative).
BYRON FERGUSON, ARCHERY TRICK SHOT
Returning for 2004 is the ever-popular Byron Ferguson, the internationally known archery trick shot, who will give Saturday and Sunday performances at the Classic. Ferguson shoots wooden discs and pennies from the air, snuffs a candle with an arrow, shoots ricochet arrows into a target’s bullseye, and bursts inflated balloons while shooting from all sorts of contorted positions. Ferguson is a veteran bowhunter and has taken more than 150 whitetails, plus black bear, a record-book mule deer, moose and game birds.Your whole family will enjoy him. Performs Saturday and Sunday only.
HANDS-ON SHOOTING RANGES
Airgun, archery, video archery and firearms – big game footage complete with sound; FATS video system, shoot/don’t-shoot situations at in-the-field scenes; great test of your skills and safety knowledge … and fun, too.
SPECIAL EDUCATIONAL DISPLAYS
Deer and turkey skeletons … Illinois fur-bearing animal hide / pelts / furs (provided by Illinois Trappers Association) … colofully-painted tipi in Outdoor Village area … flint-knapping demonstrations, by Mark McDaniel, Metamora.
LIVE BIG GAME ANIMALS
Cougar, bears, coyote, bobcat, plus four sub-species of wild turkey. They will be in the Mini-Expo Building.
