I have been trying to figure out what i really want to do with my life. Well today this kid was having me look at his phone. ( he had dropped it in water.. and was asking me why the display didn't work ) Broke it down.. Kinda freaked him out when i took his SIM card out and showed it to him ( Boost Mobile/Nextel phone ) Then i told him what was probably wrong..

It hit me.. What jobs are out there involving cell phones? Like dealing directing with them. Is there anything that i could do as a 2nd job or a side hobby that could make me money ( if i was to become a cop or something ) Any ideas? Pay scale? or am i better off keeping it has a hobby? Thanks http://www.jesseshunting.com/forums/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smiley-rock.gif

The dealer we buy our guns from does that kind of stuff. He puts all the radios and lights in the local police cars and stuff like that. His shop is amazing. I'm an electrician and he can lose me pretty quick. I guess you'd be looking in the electronics field. He works alone and bought a new vet last year. Just got back from Mexico duck hunting. He looks like he makes a pretty good living. Has a plane too. http://www.jesseshunting.com/forums/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smiley-bowdown-purple.gif http://www.jesseshunting.com/forums/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smiley-bowdown-purple.gif

If you are gonna do it for some extra $$$, know everything. Getting in over your head can cost you even more $$$.

I work for the phone company, and we do all the T1's for the cell cites here in San Diego. I know that is different than what you are talking about, but there are many different specialties when it comes to cellular. The guy that CDA is talking about sounds to me like he knows someone on the inside, just my opinion from dealing with communication gear and government.

I've thought about doing some IT or Networking stuff on the side, but I need more knowledge and schooling. Someday. http://www.jesseshunting.com/forums/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smiley-rock.gif

Yes. There are cell phone and small electronics repair shops. You can set up a shop at home. But you have to be prepared for both the angry customer, and the project from below. Also, after a certain level of earnings, you may want to convert it from a hobby to a craft, or small business.

If you want to build connections, now is the time (at your age). Volunteer at a local PD or FD. Get in good sorts with the ranks, the captain, and the purchasing agent. They usually have a ton of surplus equipment to tinker with (radios, lights, phones...).
