Hello, I would like to inform all of you about a new non profit organization that has been designed specifically for the Pacific Flyway. Valley Waterfowl, was formed in 2003 and is based in Lodi, CA. We are entirely volunteer, so all of the proceeds go to support projects in local areas. We work with land owners to help improve their habitat for wintering waterfowl. We have a wood duck box program and a mallard nesting hut program which also help to increase duck numbers throughout the area. The biggest advantage to our organization is that we want to get hunters into the field. In order to do this we plan to implement a program to lease property from farmers so that our members will be able to hunt on a draw basis (similar to a refuge program but only for our members). If this intrests you or you would like to start a chapter in your local area, please visit our web site at Valley Waterfowl (http://www.valleywaterfowl.org)
Please feel free to email us at info@valleywaterfowl.org or call toll free 1-866-884-6797.

Once we open a chapter in Southern California we will be able to focus on that area. One of the things that makes us different from other organizations is that we are all volunteers, so all of the proceeds go to support local projects. We do not have any chapters in So. Cal. as of yet, but once someone such as yourself decides to start one we will be able to specifically target your area. We keep all of the money local and don't send it back east or to another country. A good portion of the proceeds raised in a So. Cal. chapter will be designated specifically for that area and will help to gain hunting locations for that region. We currently do not have any contacts down south, and it would be hard for us to travel down there on a regular basis to work on nesting projects and build the necessary contacts. We have everything in place to expand the organization into additional chapters, and we look forward to doing so. We are currently attempting to secure some hunting locations for the 2004-2005 season, but those plans are still in the works. I hope this has answered your questions, but if you would like additional details please feel free to give us a call toll free at
1-868-884-6797or email us atinfo@valleywaterfowl.org. I also encourage others to post questions or comments to this thread if you are interested.
