To do partial quotes you need hit the quote button above the post window, this will enter the opening quote tag, then copy and paste the text you want to quote. Next hit the "Close all Tags" above the post window on upper right.

TO use the BB code on most forums, you have an opening BB code tag like this [quote] that goes first and a closing tag that goes at the end [/quote.] Those tags have a period I put in them so the code doesn't work. If I left the period out they would turn the text into a quote and you wouldn't see the BB code.

A closing tag has a forward slash in it. This would be a closing tag for a image. [/img.] If you don't have the slash or the slash is in the opening tag the code won't work.

You can also make a bit of text into a quoted text or bold text etc. by highlighting the text you want and then hitting the button for bold, italic, underline etc. THis will put both the opening tag and closing tags in for you at the right places.

YMMV

How do you add this (fishingsetx @ Feb 3 2004, 08:28 AM) above the quote? I can't figure that one out. http://www.jesseshunting.com/forums/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smiley-bag-on-head.gif

Cool I think I got it now. I was just copying the part I wanted quoted and then inserting the [quote][\quote] tags.

Thanks YoungHunter. This guy is for you. http://www.jesseshunting.com/forums/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smiley-rock.gif

Actually, I'm having trouble with the (scruffnbeez @ Feb 4 2004, 06:34 AM) part too.

To make this quote, I clicked on QUOTE, and got the opening tag. You'll notice that the instructions say to Click button again to close, so I highlighted, copied, and pasted what I wanted to quote, and then clicked on QUOTE again to close the tag. But no credit appeared. What'd I do that you didn't? Or what did you do that I didn't?

Okay, look at the top right corner of my response. There is a button that says "Report" and one that says "Quote". Click on the "Quote". Then you get the response screen. If you scroll down you notice my response in the second white box. Edit the part you don't want in the quote. Go back to the top message and type your response. Then click the "add reply" button. http://www.jesseshunting.com/forums/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smiley-dancin-red.gif

Boy, now I feel like a complete idiot. I never saw that quote button, I was using the one immediately above the reply text window. http://www.jesseshunting.com/forums/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smiley-hitting-self.gif

Hello? McFly? Anybody in there?

Thanks a million! Sorry for the bother.
