The Animal Protection Institute (API) has put out a call for activists to show up at the California Fish and Game Commission meeting in Long Beach. Their issue is the trapping included in agenda item #13, the recommendations for changes in the mammal hunting and trapping regs. But if they show up in any numbers, do not assume they will stop with that issue. To see if you have an interest that might make the AR radar screen, review the agenda at http://www.dfg.ca.gov/fg_comm/2004/020404agd.html#thu.

If you attend the Commission meeting, remember, calm, rational discourse wins over raw emotion every time. Keep logic and the law on your side, both in front of the microphone and behind it! The Commissioners are all reasonable men, and respond positively to reasonable argument. They are not swayed by rampant, hysterical, emotionalism, so if you want to speak, plan your testimony in advance, keep it to the point, keep it calm and keep it short. They really like it when you keep it short.

I will be there for item #14, the dog training regs. I have already had Fund for Animals (FFA) question the use of pigeons for training. But that is another story!
