I had a gentleman come into my office who knows that I am a wanna be gun collector. He hands me a totaly custom 375 H&H that is missing its bolt. It only take me a second to realize that it is a basic Mauser action. THe rest of the gun is clean. A beutiful piece of wood with a few dings here and there. A Mauser barrer that is truly blued not this diped stuff we get any more. He only wanted a $100 for it and I snatched it up quickly. I already have it at the gunsmith to have a bolt located and the appropriate machine work done. Now I just have to decide if I keep this monster for the collection or trade/sell it for something that I really want. I will post a picture when it returns from the Smith.

Is it a factory, Commercial Mauser? Or a 98 mauser made into a 375 H&H. Both are interesting but the former would definitely have some collectors value -tho diminished by the loss of the original bolt. If it's the latter, take a good look at the workmanship used in modifying the reciever. I have seen 98's that had the magazine well lengthened to the point that the lower locking-lug recess was left with a very thin wall. For custom guns the value is in the execution. Good buy, regardless.~AMMOe

If you decide to part with it I have been thinking about buying one, let me know.
