I'm going to be on the Kern River not far from Kernville in May and was wondering what hatches will be coming off at that time. I figured on trying the standard parachute adams, pheasant tail, EHC, hairs ear, stone fly type stuff. Last time I was up there I saw some pretty big stonefly husks on the rocks. Are there any regional patterns that work really well?

I've only fish the main fork of the Kern once so I'm not much help. You should check with the new fly shop in Kernville. This shop in Ridgecrest also puts out a report for the Kern.
