Hello Brother/Sisters:

I have a 2 year old Beratta White Wing O/U (my pride, joy and baby for my shotguns). On my last day of the season I left it in the case and had alot of chores/papers/preperations to take care of for my upcomming surgery.

Before I went in for my surgery I put all my valuables and wifes handgun in the safe and seen that my shotgun was still in the case in the safe- DAMM was my fisrt thought and upon taking it out was "Doubble Damm Sh**!!! "

There was some rusting on the barrel and I WD40'd and fingernailed all I could. The minor stuff I can't get off anymore- Should I reblue it? my local gunsmith here in Oakley runs $100. I never had to had a gun reblued- how is the appearance after the procedure and is the price right?

Thanks for your knowlage and input/advice.

Your Brother,
Dan

If its small areas & not really deep pits, try cleaning it realwell with a good degreaser or "bluingprep" & use the cold blue to touch it up. I've done that on a Browning BPS that had some rust spots & it turned out looking prettygood. Hope this helps

Thanks alot Friend-

Is the product you are talking about the same thing or equal to the bottle they sell at Walmart for about 8-9 dollars a bottle?

Pick up a bottle of Breakfree from Wal-Mart and some 000 stealwool and only 000 this is the super fine stuff. Spread a coating of breakfree over the metal part and let is sits for about 15 min. Wipe barrels and metal parts off with the and a clean clothe. Then put a good amount of the breakfree on the steelwool and softly work the rust spots and the rest of the barrel and metal parts that have rust on them wiping them down often. Wipe the entire gun off of rust and breakfree with a clean cloth then apply a thin coat of breakfree with a clean cloth and store.
Go slow you and check the bluing often you can take some off if you don’t.

OOOO steel wool is even finer, use it.

Be advised that bluing is a kind of iron oxide, as is rust. My point being, rust removers will usually remove bluing pronto.

Do as said above and use a cold bluing touch-up pen, or some cold bluing. Brownell's Oxpho Blue is supposed to be the best, but none are all that great.

Rather then brake free I would use PB blaster also found at wallyworld with the 0000 SW.
