I am considering upgrading my hearing protectors. Am considering a set of tactical ones that shut noise off at around 80 odd decibles and amplify softer noises. Have you used them? What is your opinion, good or bad?

I've used the tactical ones you are talking about. They are pretty nice but sometimes interfere with cheek weld (depending on what you are shooting), Right now I use some custom molded ear plugs which i got at one of the old gun shows and sometimes add ear muffs over those.

Rimrock,
I don't have the phones your talkin about. I use regular 30Db phones and some times use the foam ear plugs, or even both. Depends on what I'm shooting.
I've been curious about the kind you refer to. They'd be great if the work...
