Since we haven't made a trip to Carrizo lately is anyone interested in going out there for a weekend? I was thinking maybe 1 of the 1st 2 weeks in October.

When does quail season open? I've never been up there.

Depends on the zone (A, B, or C) for the particular season. See: Upland Game Bird Summary (http://www.dfg.ca.gov/fg_comm/2003/birdflyer.pdf)
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div>
The early mountain quail season hunting zone includes the counties of Alpine, Butte, Del Norte, Glenn, Humboldt, Inyo, Lassen, Modoc, Mono, Plumas, Shasta, Sierra, Siskiyou, Tehama, Trinity, and those portions of Amador, Calaveras, El Dorado, Fresno, Madera, Mariposa, Nevada, Placer, Tuolomne, Tulare, and Yuba counties lying east of the western boundary of the national forests.
The early coastal quail season (all species) hunting zone includes the counties of Marin, Napa, Solano, Sonoma, Lake, and Mendocino.
The balance of the state season (all species) hunting zone includes the remaining land area not included in Zone B (the counties of Marin, Napa, Solano, Sonoma, Lake, and Mendocino).[/b]

Looks like it would be C zone being that carrizo is in San Luis Obispo & Kern co. I'm free the 1st 2 weekends of the month, the other two I'm on call. Let me know if you are interested
If I don't find another place, I will probably be at Carrizo for quail opener.

How is it out there for the opener, are there alot of hunters out there?

L O T 'S of hunters Thonz, Lots! It won't be lonely out there. http://www.jesseshunting.com/forums/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smiley-bttt.gif
With that said, it is a HUGE area however and some places will have less folks than others. Of course walking a few yards from a road will eliminate more hunters.
If you see my (not Hook's :) white 4x4 dodge ram, pls stop by.
Best of luck

Frank, If I end up out there I will most likely be with Hook. I'll see if he wants to take a trip out there in the next few weeks. If he can't I'll take my son along.
