Some of you have asked about the new banner ads and donation button on the website and forum.

I started this website in 1998 and ran it with free software and hosting. I couldn't afford to pay for a webmaster so I had to stay up late nights reading my butt off to figure out what HTML and FTP meant.

As the site grew after a couple years I kept the costs as low as I could by using free software, a cheap hosting service and much of my own time to do the graphics, writing etc. A bunch of you also helped out by moderating or being an Admin for the forum. Other members helped print stickers and T-shirts. Even those who just help answer questions for newbies in the forum or sent me an email to tell me off a broken link or typo was a great help. I want to thank all of you who have pitched in to make this a great Internet community. I couldn't have done this without you.

Recently I had to upgrade again to a faster and better server to keep up with the growth. Until now, all the server costs were paid for by myself out of my own pocket. The time has come where I can no longer afford the cost of keeping the site running since my forged Lotto ticket was rejected again. http://www.jesseshunting.com/forums/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smiley-biggrin-aqua.gif To do this I have decided to take on sponsors and banner ads.

Don't panic yet. http://www.jesseshunting.com/forums/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/afraid_face.gif

There won't be any monkeys jumping around on the screen with flashing buttons to smash them. The banners will be done with taste so as not to intrude on your viewing as much as possible. There will be NO pop up ads at all. Never. I hate them things with a passion.

I also need to free up some time for other hobbies. With the sponsors I will be able to pay for some help on the graphics and other tasks that need to be done here.

Right now my plan isn't to make this a huge business or money making venture. I run this website as my way to pay back what was given to me by my family and other older hunters, fishermen and outdoorsman I've met over the years. If I can keep everyone who visits here happy and have enough left over to buy the mods and admin a steak dinner once in awhile for their tireless work it will be a success in my mind.

Some of you have already sent in a donation and I really appreciate that you took the time to help out. Even the $5.00 and $10.00 from some of you that are hard working folks will help keep the lights on here. Someone pointed out to me that this site is as good as many hunting magazines and they just let their other subsrcription run out and will use that money here. If the wife or husband will buy that logic, run with it. http://www.jesseshunting.com/forums/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smiley-devil.gif

Thank you for your participation and help, it's been a long fun ride. Here's to another 5 years of fun. http://www.jesseshunting.com/forums/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smiley-faces-toast-beers.gif

Jesse

Whatever it takes to keep this place running, more power to you. Never could figure out where you get the time to do what you do. http://www.jesseshunting.com/forums/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smiley-bowdown-purple.gif

Steak? http://www.jesseshunting.com/forums/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smiley-ren.gif How bout, venison, hog or duck? I'll help dust some floppies and keyboards. http://www.jesseshunting.com/forums/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smiley-biggrin-aqua.gif

May you be rewarded in direct proportion to the benefit people have enjoyed from the site! http://www.jesseshunting.com/forums/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smiley-thumbs-up-aqua.gif http://www.jesseshunting.com/forums/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smiley-dancin-red.gif http://www.jesseshunting.com/forums/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/banana-man-yeah.gif http://www.jesseshunting.com/forums/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smiley-faces-toast-beers.gif :JHP rocks:

Like Nino said "whatever it takes to keep this thing going". http://www.jesseshunting.com/forums/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smiley-faces-toast-beers.gif
We've enjoyed countless hours of discussion here, and had many great get togethers as a result. I've met more hunters here than I ever thought existed in California.
I'm sure I can say with some certainty that all the mods and members will have no problem at all with the banner adds.

And my fellow Californians don't forget to :recall davis sign: :recall davis sign:

Altho I can try to imagine how many hours you spent on the 'puter, setting up and keeping up this forum, I'm sure my imagination falls way short

and I bet you'll still be spending too many hours on here, even tho now you can get some professional help with the extra moolah (by professional help I mean computer help... http://www.jesseshunting.com/forums/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smiley-biggrin-aqua.gif

I've often wondered how you do it, investing so much money and time into a hobby that benefits strangers more than you. However you do it, I'm grateful.

Whatever it takes to keep this site going, do it. It's worth it, even if it's the monkey thing.

I love this site and am proud to be part of it. It's the mainmost reason I ever use the internet nowadays. I love the friendships I have made here.

I plan to support this site more than I have as soon as I can. I've gotten so much out of it, I feel it's a worthwhile investment on my part as well.

Thanks again, Jesse.

I'm in for helping with the cost, how about a "PayPal" link to you. Would be very easy for any to do that way. Maybe give them a "goldStar" or something next to their name.

OOps, just scrolled down and saw your link. It's on the way.

Gee, if we deleted all the hundreds of threads of praise and glory we heap on Jesse , there would be enough extra 'puter space that there wouldn't be a need for ads!!!BUT!!, He deserves every thread and post of it and a BIG thanks Jesse too!! http://www.jesseshunting.com/forums/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smiley-clappin-yellow.gif http://www.jesseshunting.com/forums/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smiley-clappin-yellow.gif http://www.jesseshunting.com/forums/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smiley-clappin-yellow.gif http://www.jesseshunting.com/forums/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smiley-clappin-yellow.gif http://www.jesseshunting.com/forums/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smiley-clappin-yellow.gif

The ads are not intrusive at all. Nice job.

All in all, as has been said so many times... good work! It's an awesome website, and pretty good community as well. It has run much more smoothly than many other BBS and forums I've belonged to in the past, and has lived longer than most as well.
