Monday night, my daughter comes running in the house and screams "DAD, I CAUGHT A QUAIL". ###Sure enough, there is a small bird in the fish net on our back porch. ###BUT, it was a Bobwhite! ###Didn't know we had any in SoCal. ###5 minutes later, the same thing happens. ###Now, I've got a male & female. ###Asked around and a neighbor about 1/2 mile away raised 'em and let 'em go about 2 weeks ago. ###They're definetly paired off. ###Anyone raise 'em before? ###Any advise? ###(No recipes for now) ###Kids are thrilled - the more the merrier right? :smile-yellow:

QALHNTR ###If they are full grown just feed them game bird mix you can get at the feed store. (Not the wild bird seed you buy at wally world for the bird feeder outside). The game bird mix looks like chicken scratch. I used to keep a few in a pen out in the yard. Also had some pheasants. The pen I had was on the ground. I dont think these birds will nest in a cage. Just make sure they wont get wet. They should be able to get out of the sun if its too hot also. ### ### ### ### ### ### ### ### ### ### ### Fubar

QALHNTR,
Go down to KRUSE feed on Lambert just east of Palm. ###They pretty much have all you will need. ###I have a watering bucket/dish that I left at my old house on Harbor if you want it. ###I just to have chickens, turkey's and pigeons. ###I had a few bobwhites but they didn't last too long with the chickens. ###They were too docile. ###Have fun.

A group of us are thinking about going to Prado, in Corona, to get our dogs in shape for the season. Someone told us that they are charging $9.00 per person. That's not including the birds. ###I was wondering if it was legal to release birds not native to the area, Bobwhites, on National Forest?

Thanks guys. ###The pen is complete. ###I let 'em out to see if they'd flush (then I wouldn't have to build a pen). ###They didn't even move 15 feet. ###Greg, I go to Kruse often to get bunny food. ###My kids taught me to shoot rabbits but raise bunnies. ###Qbn, I'm sure it's illegal just like most everything else now. ###Kinda like introducing bamboo into SoCal. ###I'll pick up a little turkey crumble Lad. ###Hmmm, chukar?
