Turkey kill is 2,179The preliminary kill figure for the state's spring turkey hunting season, which concluded May 24, is 2,179. The final tally for the same season last year was 2,026, and in 2001 was 2,163. The preliminary kill in the Southeast District was 151 with three checking stations not yet heard from. The Northeast District reported 158, Central District (Worcester County) 544, the Connecticut Valley District 713, and the Western District 616. Two of the larger birds taken in Worcester County were one of 22.1 pounds shot by Kenneth Holtgren of Jefferson in Paxton, and one of 20.2 pounds by Patrick Ordung of Lancaster in Lancaster.
