I've had an 18" midway barrel/fajen stock combo for about 5 years on my 10/22 that I've just used for plinking/target practice, & squirreling.
I had always disliked the trigger and knew it was opening up my groups a bit but figured I'd learn something about trigger control by leaving it as is. (what I learned is...I should have replaced the trigger 5 years ago! http://www.jesseshunting.com/forums/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smiley-biggrin-aqua.gif )
Everything else was stock. I mustered up the time & patience to jump in and do a trigger job myself on it. I didn't want to spend the $100 plus at a gunsmith for a trigger job so I bought a Volquartsen hammer and tore into the trigger group. I dropped the poundage from about 7 lbs to 2.5 lbs. What a difference! All for about $30 in parts.
It's pretty easy to do for the first timer. (http://www.jesseshuntingpage.com/forums/index.php?act=ST&f=60&t=36710)
