Found out that all you need is a target hammer in your 10/22 to get rid of the aweful 7 lb pull of the stock trigger.

Tore into my 10/22's trigger group last night which was http://www.jesseshunting.com/forums/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/afraid_face.gif ...since I had not done that before. It really wasn't too bad. Armed with my new Volquartsen hammer, shims and springs I proceeded to work myself into a 3 hour puzzle. Frustrated, I went into the house and found this website (http://www.alpharubicon.com/leo/triggerruger1022.htm)---15 minutes later, I had my trigger group reassemble and it works like a charm.

Two indispensible links for the first-timer:
Diagrams for how to disassemble/reassemble the 10/22 trigger (http://www.alpharubicon.com/leo/triggerruger1022(two).htm)
Ruger 10/22 parts - exploded diagram (http://www.ruger.com/Firearms/PDF/E1.pdf)

Now I could probably do this in half an hour. Anyway, saved myself probably $50 by spending the 3 hrs or so to figure it out.

Tonight - will glassbed (first timer on this too) the midway barrel/fajen stock combo that I've had for 5 or so years... http://www.jesseshunting.com/forums/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smiley-thumbs-up-aqua.gif

The best bang for the buck a new hammer for a lite trigger pull is the first thing I would tell people to do to any 10/22 them go from that point.
Now all you have to do is add the pre and over travail screws to the trigger the extended mag release and the rock and roll bolt release and your done

my brother polished his factory 10/22 trigger and got a light pull, he later on went and bought a volquartsen hammer, IMO the polished factory hammer is better.
after he bought the new hammer he gave me the old one http://www.jesseshunting.com/forums/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smiley-biggrin-aqua.gif and almost wanted it back.

the "rock n roll" bolt release can be made by dremeling off the hook piece on the original, then maybe polishing it a bit.
SEE a light trigger and quick release bolt for FREE.

but i did go with a ramline plastic ext mag release for $5, instead of a volq alum piece for $15-20

-- for the bolt release -- take out the original bolt hold open piece, there is a hole with a internal hook, grind off that hook and its now Q/R
the Clark Custom 10/22 customizing video is an excellent source of info for doing all this.

Be careful polishing the hammer and sear if you change the engagement angles or polish to much you could end up with a rifle going full auto and or firing out of battery.
The mag release is easy find and old 22 cleaning rod a drill and bit the same size or a little larger then the cleaning rod and some JB weld. Remove the release from the rifle and clamp it to a workbench or table. Drill a hole in the center of the flat part of the release about 1/8 inch deep if even that. Cut the cleaning rod to the length you want mix the JB weld place mixed weld in hole them place the cut peace of cleaning rod in the hole with the JB weld. Clean up extra JB weld let dry and paint it or leave it the way it is. Some guys have taken a small amount of the extra JB weld and filled the hole on the cleaning rod with it then sanded the end smooth.
