Last weekend we were driving to a friends' ranch and spotted this pronghorn bedded 40 yards off a road. The next morning we spotted 11 more of them in the same area, but a good 600 yards off (out of my camera's range). Just thought you guys would like to see the pic, know that there is a little group of them in that area doing quite well. What was cool was that they were very close to Hwy. 46 and "Pronghorn road".

Yea, I see them every time I am down there hunting on one the GR ranches. Never have seen one that close to the road though.

That looks like the 41 and 46 junction, where james dean bought it.. i have seen lopes there many times on the way to my parents place. I have seen them more often in recent years

As you drive in towards Parkfield, from Hwy 41/46, you will often see a nice herd near the big ranch on the right. Almost a certain sighting will be a coyote or two mousing in those wide open cattle pastures. I don't think the ranchers are shooting at the coyotes in those parts, they are not running from the trucks.

Ditto to all the remarks above on the road to Parkfield. From the few times I've taken that road, I've seen lopes near the big ranch on the right (about 6 miles in) and right there at the 41/46 junction.

BigDog...........I've seen lopes right next to the road in Utah, but inside the fence (you know how they hate the thought of jumping fences).....

Check out Cholame II for a lope I saw yesterday (5/18) in the same area....closer to the road and a little more unusual of a critter......
