View Full Version : FHL
Since I plan on doing some archery hunting in A zone I was planning on a trip or two to FHL. I have only been there once and been in Zones 29 and 30 as most of the base was shut down. Is the archery only zone decent for deer? i heard that there are not that many archery deer hunters anyway in the early season.
Just curious...

BDB,
I have been in quite a few areas so far, I have seen deer and deer sign in each one. 3 the archery only section is okay for deer, but I can't say it is any better than the rest.

You won't find many guys out there for the bow opener, not even that many pig hunters. I tried that place on th 95 and 96 archery openers. Saw some deer, saw a couple of legal ones. I went for the north units away from the "crowds" and had the area to myself. Bring the piggy tags and blunts for rodents. And watch out for them rattlers. I saw more of them than I did deer. Like most of the A-zone, it's hot and miserable and the deer are usually in the chapparal by sunup.
