For you hand gunners, what do you use for rabbits and such? Rimfire or centerfire? At what range are you proficient? Bullet type, scope or iron sights, etc.
Been carrying my .38/.357, 4”, iron sights, (only handgun I own) and came across a jackrabbit last week at about 50 yards. Right now I'd need about a 45 yard stalk to take a shot.http://www.jesseshunting.com/forums/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smiley-rolleyes-green.gif I’m wondering what is a reasonable expectation for using this setup based on your experience.
I do reload, if that helps, trouble is, I’ve got those darn 40 yr. old eyes that aren’t getting any younger.

Pasco,
I live in Colorado and hunt wabbits alot. It dosent take much, just know your hand gun. I use a Beretta 9mm with 115 grn fmj. I dont use hollow points much because of all the dammage. I have 3 dot night sights and have only taken them out to about 20 yds. Now and again out to 25. I bought a hand grip laser sight at the gunshow this weekend and I cant wait to sight it in with the laser on. I think I should be able to take em out to about 30 or 40 yards with the laser. Ill let you know. 40 yds might be a streatch for the little 9mm. Will see. What ever gun or caliber you use, Just Have Fun! http://www.jesseshunting.com/forums/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/stimpy--sm-ani.gif
My 2 cents, Blitzen

I've taken small game out to 75 yards (rabbit) with a Ruger slab-side .22/.45. It had the Leupold 2x EER on it then. Usually, it wears a Leupold Red dot sight that is great out to about 50 yards. My Ruger OMBH in .41Magnum is used for everything. RKBA! http://www.jesseshunting.com/forums/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smiley-cool-shades-down.gif

I have an EAA Windicator DA revolver (22LR/22mag, 6" bbl) that would be about right for rabbits. Haven't used for such yet, but I've killed a lot of beer cans out to 40 yards with it. http://www.jesseshunting.com/forums/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smiley-sunglasses.gif

I dont think that round has enough stopping power for charging rabbits . http://www.jesseshunting.com/forums/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smiley-shootin-green.gif

9 1/2" Ruger super single six, 22 LR or mag, with super colibris. Lots of fun, and does just fine on wabbits and squirrels.
