View Full Version : Prado Olympic Shooting Range
Recently, I have been making weekly visits to prado for some good old trap shooting. I always keep a watchful eye out for JHP stickers, but I have yet to see one. For the most part I shoot during the midweek evenings. If anyone is interested in meeting up for a few rounds please let me know. As for know I shoot alone.

Little league wraps up May 18, we'll have our lives back then. Fullsack, QALHNTR, ESSPOSSE and a few others might be up for this also. I hope to see you in May. I'll raise this again in a month or so. http://www.jesseshunting.com/forums/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smiley-wavin-yel.gif
04-11-2003, 07:52 AM
I am soooooooo ready for this!!!! ANYONE give me a shout before you head out. I'm only 10 minutes away!!! ALWAYS looking for someone to shoot with. I hate going out there solo. Look for the JHP LOGO... yes LOGO sticker on my Blue F-150.
I'll be shooting some rounds at prodo either Monday or Tuesday evening, so if you see some little guy out there missing all his targets that would be me. I'll be driving a Green Jeep Cherokee, if see it or me stop by and say hi.
04-11-2003, 08:59 PM
I'm way over due. PM me & I'll do my best to sneak over. I've got classes on Tuesday nights until June, I coach my daughter's softball team on Wednesdays, son's hockey on Thursdays, hmmm.... maybe. http://www.jesseshunting.com/forums/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smiley-biggrin-aqua.gif
Looks like I'll be there tuesday night at 7 p.m. This topic can also be found in the campfire area.

I wish I could make it out there, but it's some ways out there for me. After these next two weeks, I'm thinking of hitting up Triple B's once a week if anyone's interested let me know. If you guys ever do Prado on the weekend, post it so maybe more of us can head out there.
There's just no way I'm missing easy shots on dove and quail this year like last year! http://www.jesseshunting.com/forums/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smiley-shootin-green.gif
04-15-2003, 09:39 AM
I'm always up for the weekend shoot too. Sunday AM is best. If you get a hankerin'.... give me a shout.
04-16-2003, 02:09 PM
Prado or Triple Bs? I'm thinking of hitting up Triple B's once a week and Prado once a month with the JHPers on a weekend. Most likely during the week at Triple B's, but a Sunday shoot would work too. The SGVQU chapter has a monthly shoot in the summer on the 2nd Wed. of the month, if anybody would like to come out for that. I'll probably do that as part of the weekly thing along with maybe a weekend at Prado or Triple B's. Anyway, let me know what your guys plan is.
04-16-2003, 09:19 PM
I'm going to make it to one of these shoots just to show prove bad I am with a scattergun.
Also, we now have a Shooting Events forum in the gun section so please leave a link there to any threads on meeting up for any shoots.

will do Jesse.
I think the general synopsis is that Tues, Wed & Thurs are the best for most of us. Prado is open until 9pm these nights, and the club shooters are done for a while - the the place is a ghost town after 7pm.
We had a good turnout last night (Tues 4/15). I think there were almost 10 of us, they had to kick us out.

I'm up for the weekly shoots at Prado (mainly due to the fact that I'm 7 minutes away...) But, Triple B's I'd be up for on the weekend thang. Started umpiring last night for Major League Softball so there will be a few week nights I won't be able to attend. Found a great way to reduce the size of my beer garden and fund ALL my hunting trips for the year. So, chime in for the next shoot and let's get back out there. Can't tell you enough how fun it was the other night. Looking forward to getting Jesse out there... hopefully he does'nt have one of them fancy, Nordstrom fashion statement looking shooting vests...... (Dacromo) http://www.jesseshunting.com/forums/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smiley-sideways-laff-aqua.gif (guy took a real good ribbin' on that the other night... and took it like a champ!) Like Greg stated earlier... the more the merrier!! http://www.jesseshunting.com/forums/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smiley-wavin-yel.gif
04-17-2003, 12:37 PM
Anyone headed out to Prado tonight 4/17?
04-19-2003, 05:36 PM
Docramo is a normal shooter like us.
I'm pretty sure it was Red Dog who came dressed like an Eddie Bauer gun slinger. His shooting vest sure was handsome, he shot the clays like he'd made a deal with the devil, and he pinched his hand in his O/U better than I've ever seen!
Let's shoot some sporting clays Red Dog! http://www.jesseshunting.com/forums/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smiley-biggrin-aqua.gif
04-21-2003, 06:48 AM
Ahhhh.... my bad... It was Reddog.... http://www.jesseshunting.com/forums/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smiley-bag-on-head.gif
Anyone heading out there Tuesday???? I'm pretty sure I won't be ump'ing until Thurs or Fri.
I'll be there tuesday at 7 p.m. again. Maybe I'll see you some of you there.
04-21-2003, 05:46 PM
Sorry guys, back in class on Tuesday & Thursday nights through May. Good luck.
04-21-2003, 09:55 PM
Hey at least I brought a shotgun that could shoot more than ONE round!
Might not have been able to hit anything with 3 rounds but it felt good to pull the trigger. http://www.jesseshunting.com/forums/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smiley-biggrin-aqua.gif
Did you get that Benelli fixed?
Had a great time shooting with you guys. Hope to do it again soon. http://www.jesseshunting.com/forums/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smiley-shootin-green.gif
04-22-2003, 12:45 AM
I'm probly up for tuesday, What is it around 7 pm???
see you there.
04-22-2003, 06:50 AM
Ouch.... don't go dissin' the anti-aircraft Benelli now....
Just need a hotter load to cycle it through!!! I'll be bringing some "stiffer" loads with me so make sure you bring the ear plugs. I don't even have 100 rounds through that thing yet. Trying to clear the way for getting out there tonight with Greg.... I'm on stand-by for an umpiring shift tonight. Should know by noon so I'll post back up to anyone who wants to join up out there. I figure Qalmisser is back to his cooking class tonight so he won't be a showing until he passes water boiling 101. I gotta tell ya guys.... he does make a mean ice cube!!!! http://www.jesseshunting.com/forums/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smiley-sideways-laff-aqua.gif
04-22-2003, 01:22 PM
Sorry guys..... just got the call for an umpiring gig at the coldest field in Corona tonight. Chime in with the next who's gonna be there and when and we'll meet then.
04-22-2003, 03:17 PM
I'll be there tonight 4/22
04-23-2003, 06:47 AM
So who showed up for the clay bustin' last night??? http://www.jesseshunting.com/forums/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smiley-shootin-green.gif
04-23-2003, 06:42 PM
Me Greg and Evan, the rounds went pretty fast
We spent most off the time skeet shootin'. Tried out my old Remington Model 11 and did OK. I'll definately be using for skeet next time. Its much more effective than my model 12.
See you all next week,
04-23-2003, 07:29 PM
Not fair that Csbishop and EvanIII are getting all the practice...those guys are deadly enough as it is!
Hope you guys knocked em dead. http://www.jesseshunting.com/forums/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/afraid_face.gif
04-23-2003, 11:41 PM
I'm not going to be able to make it out on Thursday night. I have to do some late night work at one of our retail stores in Cabazon. Gee, I'll be having lots of fun http://www.jesseshunting.com/forums/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smiley-sleep-blue.gif
04-24-2003, 07:15 AM
I'm thinking about Sunday morning. My little brother needs the practice... he's entered in the Firemen Olympics coming up in June.
04-28-2003, 01:39 PM
Who's up for Tuesday night 7:00 the 29th?
I'll be there again. See you there at 7 pm.
05-03-2003, 11:35 AM
The wife and I shot Prado yesterday, May 2nd for the first time. Neither of us have shot skeet, nor trap. I think I hit something like 20 on trap, and about 18 on skeet.
We usually go to Raahauges and shoot the sporting clays. Raahauges is about 3 minutes from the house, where Prado is about 10 minutes. Both very close.
Prado is starting a Family Fun Shoot on Thursday nights starting May15th. I think the first shooter goes at 5pm and it is over by 8pm. We are thinking about signing up just to shoot and meet some new people. The cost is $20 per Thursday. Not sure if any prizes are being offered. http://www.jesseshunting.com/forums/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smiley-faces-toast-beers.gif
05-05-2003, 06:49 AM
Looks like we have a new member of the "Prado Crew".... http://www.jesseshunting.com/forums/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smiley-dancin-red.gif
I'm sure we'll be seeing you out there DD... http://www.jesseshunting.com/forums/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smiley-cool-shades-down.gif
OK, where was everyone at last week, come on let's here it. Oh I get it you figured that I needed the practice and you didn't want to bother me. I'll be there again on Tuesday at 7 p.m. if anyone wants to join me. i promise to miss a few targets if it makes you feel better.
05-05-2003, 11:58 AM
Well.... since you put it that way Greg..... I'll see ya out there. FINALLY got my umpiring schedule for May and I'm clear tomorrow night.
See ya there.
05-05-2003, 01:56 PM
I'll be there too, what time???
05-05-2003, 02:48 PM
Would imagine the usual.... 7 ish. Probably should throw a shout to Deadducks too. However... I think he's planning on the Thursday shoots.
Hmmm... Sorry if anyone showed up. If you did you know why I am apologizing "THE STINKIN' PLACE CLOSED AT 6 PM TODAY." I was so upset that I immediately drove over to Turner's and bouhgt myself a Beretta 391, I feel much better now.
05-07-2003, 12:36 AM
I showed up around 7:45 and there weren't any lights on. I drove around but didn't see anybody except those witht the Stag Shoot??
Didn't notice anything on their website mentioning this. Does anyone know if they are open on Thursday?
05-07-2003, 07:10 AM
What the heck???? I could'nt find a light switch or I'd a shot anyway!!!! I think I need to invest in a phone call just to see what hours they're open now....
Back at you guys here shortly with some info.
Greg.... Barreta 391 huh? Prozac should cure any future purchases!!!! http://www.jesseshunting.com/forums/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smiley-sideways-laff-aqua.gif
05-07-2003, 08:53 AM
Sorry to hear about it closed last night. Guess its a darn good thing I didn't pull in from sea until late. I was sure trying to get home so I could make it out there with you guys once and for all. Seems the navy has been keeping me pretty busy the past few months. But I will show my face one of these times. I do look forward to getting out there and shooting some clays with you all very soon.
05-07-2003, 10:23 AM
Ok Prado Crew.... here's the beef...
They shut down last night @ 6 to set up for their annual charity event that takes place today 5/7.
Now for the times:
Found out they do actually have a website with general hours and ammenities and such. It will sometimes update to show events, closings etc.
Site is: SHOOTPRADO.COM
Unless I can find a rookie replacement for Thursday, looks like I'll be umping. But, anyone that shows has to give updates with how ya did and who showed.
Good shooting boys.... make us proud! http://www.jesseshunting.com/forums/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smiley-thumbs-up-aqua.gif
05-07-2003, 10:28 AM
I just called . . . they are closed today for the annual Hoag Hospital Charity shoot. They close the night before to setup. They will be open tomorrow. Hmm, let's see, it would have been nice if they updated thier website - or should I get in the habit of calling every time I plan on driving out there???
Oh well, maybe tomorrow night.
Anyone out there still want to do some shooting. I was thinkinkg about going tonight(Tuesday.
I herd that they are going to start up a league night on thursdays, so I guess there goes thrifty thursday.
05-20-2003, 04:10 PM
I was out there Sunday. The gal there told me they're setting up a sporting clays course for Thursday nights. 50 clays for $20, with prizes at the end of summer, I think you need to turn in 10 cards. Sounds fun, but I'm letting the kids shoot more now so the cost is a bit much. She said the Thursday night 3 for the price of 4 is still on, only fewer fields due to the sporting clays event.
I wanted to get out this week, wouldn't you know it, the boys are in the playoffs so it's little league for a bit more. Hope to get out there soon with you guys.
05-27-2003, 09:53 PM
Did you get your 391 yet?
Great gun you'll enjoy it at the range and quail hunting
05-29-2003, 10:21 AM
Anybody going to Prado tonight?
They have the league going, but you can still shoot the fields not being used. The wife and I are thinking about going around 5:30-6pm. We might do the league just for the heck of it, or just shoot. We haven't decided.
Hope to see someone out there. If anyone has stickers for sale and you plan on going, please bring a couple. I need to buy two.
I will be there. It was fun last week. They threw a pair of minis, a rabbit, a battue, two from the tower and the rest were regular. Not bad for a fifty target course.
05-29-2003, 11:47 AM
I can't shoot tonight, but, I could stop by on my way to Ayala park before my umpiring shift starts so you can check out the decals.....
Post up if you can be there between say 6 - 6:20.
I'll be driving a (dirty) Blue F-150. Let me know what you're driving so I can get in and out of there quick.
06-12-2003, 05:00 PM
Anybody going tonight??? Thursday June 12th??
06-13-2003, 01:51 AM
Lameduck & I where there tonight 6/12 but it was closed to the public, last time i'll go there, we took off and went to triple B's and shot 2 rounds. http://www.jesseshunting.com/forums/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smiley-faces-toast-beers.gif
06-13-2003, 02:08 PM
You know . . . that happened to me last time I went. I guess they had some sort of Charity Shoot. I wish that all these places that go and spend money on a website would do us all a favor and feel free to update them once in a while. I guess I need to learn and give them a call. It chapped my hide after driving 40 minutes to find out that it's closed. Not even a sign at the gate. I drove around and finally figured it out for myself.
The only problem I have is that Trible B's is it's twice as far.
06-13-2003, 04:10 PM
Anyone shoot at Fish Canyon instead?
Is anyone going to be going next week to Prado?
With the school year winding down, just thought I'd ckeck.
06-13-2003, 05:19 PM
I would rather drive twice as far and shoot at a range that is opened, also 3-B's is a much nicer range then prado with 3 times as many fields lameduck and I shot 2 rounds last night one with 2 other guys and one just us.
3-B's is always opened to the public even when there having a major shoot there.
FC only shoots till 5 and they only have 3 fields combo skeet & trap and closed on Thursday I don't really care for the members there nose is a little to high for me http://www.jesseshunting.com/forums/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smiley-shakehead-blue.gif
06-13-2003, 09:37 PM
Schedule has kept me from making the dates, summer might open up one of the nights for me.
06-14-2003, 08:49 AM
Anybody know where the range is in valencia area? I saw one on tv that had a great looking sporting clays & was wondering if it was worth the drive from Bakersfield
06-14-2003, 10:57 AM
The have been times at Prado when my group has been the only people there for about the last 1.5 hours. The one thing I like about Prado is the voice activated trap.
I've been to Triple B's before, I'll have to try it out again soon! Thanks for the info Greg.
06-14-2003, 03:45 PM
That's Oak Tree your talking about GREAT sporting clays range and tuff.
06-18-2003, 09:49 PM
Looks like I've got a free night - any JHP'rs headed out to Prado?
And no weak excuses like "I gotta umpire" http://www.jesseshunting.com/forums/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/lame-sign.gif
06-19-2003, 08:13 AM
That money is for my Argentina Duck and Dove trip!!!!
We gotta get back on track here folks and man-up and get out there!!!!
I'm now the crew chief for the Inland Empire... doing the M/W/F thing. Tues and Thurs are great for me now.
06-19-2003, 06:13 PM
Thought I might call first after reading some of the previous posts. The gal in the Pro Shop said they are closed to general public shooting EVERY Thursday through August 31. Saved me a trip. Now what I'm I going to do with all of those shells? http://www.jesseshunting.com/forums/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smiley-shootin-green.gif
06-20-2003, 05:42 AM
All was not lost - I went down to the indoor firing range and burned up 100 rounds through ol' Mr. Glock. Ah, the smell of burned gunpowder in the early evening..... http://www.jesseshunting.com/forums/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smiley-gunfighter-yellow.gif
06-20-2003, 12:27 PM
Who's been out there on a Tue or Wed lately? Do the trap leagues cut out early? I need to start making this a weekly event, 70 days to go, right?.
06-20-2003, 01:06 PM
70 days.....16 hours...... 27 minutes and 49 seconds.... for Dove....
Haven't been out there lately...... looking at Tuesday night 6/24.....
06-23-2003, 08:30 AM
Tuesday is out for me this week, I will be out there Wednesday around 7PM.
06-26-2003, 08:42 AM
Well, we made it to Prado last night, no other JHPers, just my son and me. There were only 3 or 4 other shooters there. The boy is starting to hit 'em, I get a real kick out of seeing that. I let him use my gun, he likes it...that's trouble. Next week it's the other son, happy shooting.
I need to get that JHP cap pin as an identifier, kind of awkward when you ask a group if they know about JHP and they give you that blank stare like you're some kind of Amway salesman or something.
