View Full Version : Prado Olympic Shooting Range
Recently, I have been making weekly visits to prado for some good old trap shooting. I always keep a watchful eye out for JHP stickers, but I have yet to see one. For the most part I shoot during the midweek evenings. If anyone is interested in meeting up for a few rounds please let me know. As for know I shoot alone.

Greg,
Little league wraps up May 18, we'll have our lives back then. Fullsack, QALHNTR, ESSPOSSE and a few others might be up for this also. I hope to see you in May. I'll raise this again in a month or so. http://www.jesseshunting.com/forums/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smiley-wavin-yel.gif

I am soooooooo ready for this!!!! ANYONE give me a shout before you head out. I'm only 10 minutes away!!! ALWAYS looking for someone to shoot with. I hate going out there solo. Look for the JHP LOGO... yes LOGO sticker on my Blue F-150.
I'll be shooting some rounds at prodo either Monday or Tuesday evening, so if you see some little guy out there missing all his targets that would be me. I'll be driving a Green Jeep Cherokee, if see it or me stop by and say hi.

I wish I could make it out there, but it's some ways out there for me. After these next two weeks, I'm thinking of hitting up Triple B's once a week if anyone's interested let me know. If you guys ever do Prado on the weekend, post it so maybe more of us can head out there.
There's just no way I'm missing easy shots on dove and quail this year like last year! http://www.jesseshunting.com/forums/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smiley-shootin-green.gif

Prado or Triple Bs? I'm thinking of hitting up Triple B's once a week and Prado once a month with the JHPers on a weekend. Most likely during the week at Triple B's, but a Sunday shoot would work too. The SGVQU chapter has a monthly shoot in the summer on the 2nd Wed. of the month, if anybody would like to come out for that. I'll probably do that as part of the weekly thing along with maybe a weekend at Prado or Triple B's. Anyway, let me know what your guys plan is.

I'm going to make it to one of these shoots just to show prove bad I am with a scattergun.
Also, we now have a Shooting Events forum in the gun section so please leave a link there to any threads on meeting up for any shoots.
Thanks.

will do Jesse.
I think the general synopsis is that Tues, Wed & Thurs are the best for most of us. Prado is open until 9pm these nights, and the club shooters are done for a while - the the place is a ghost town after 7pm.
We had a good turnout last night (Tues 4/15). I think there were almost 10 of us, they had to kick us out.

I'm up for the weekly shoots at Prado (mainly due to the fact that I'm 7 minutes away...) But, Triple B's I'd be up for on the weekend thang. Started umpiring last night for Major League Softball so there will be a few week nights I won't be able to attend. Found a great way to reduce the size of my beer garden and fund ALL my hunting trips for the year. So, chime in for the next shoot and let's get back out there. Can't tell you enough how fun it was the other night. Looking forward to getting Jesse out there... hopefully he does'nt have one of them fancy, Nordstrom fashion statement looking shooting vests...... Hey John,
Docramo is a normal shooter like us.
I'm pretty sure it was Red Dog who came dressed like an Eddie Bauer gun slinger. His shooting vest sure was handsome, he shot the clays like he'd made a deal with the devil, and he pinched his hand in his O/U better than I've ever seen!

We spent most off the time skeet shootin'. Tried out my old Remington Model 11 and did OK. I'll definately be using for skeet next time. Its much more effective than my model 12.

The wife and I shot Prado yesterday, May 2nd for the first time. Neither of us have shot skeet, nor trap. I think I hit something like 20 on trap, and about 18 on skeet.
We usually go to Raahauges and shoot the sporting clays. Raahauges is about 3 minutes from the house, where Prado is about 10 minutes. Both very close.
Prado is starting a Family Fun Shoot on Thursday nights starting May15th. I think the first shooter goes at 5pm and it is over by 8pm. We are thinking about signing up just to shoot and meet some new people. The cost is $20 per Thursday. Not sure if any prizes are being offered. http://www.jesseshunting.com/forums/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smiley-faces-toast-beers.gif

Ok Prado Crew.... here's the beef...
They shut down last night @ 6 to set up for their annual charity event that takes place today 5/7.
Now for the times:
Monday: Closed
T-W-TH: 9-9
Friday: 9-5
Sat-Sun 8-5
Found out they do actually have a website with general hours and ammenities and such. It will sometimes update to show events, closings etc.
Site is: SHOOTPRADO.COM
Unless I can find a rookie replacement for Thursday, looks like I'll be umping. But, anyone that shows has to give updates with how ya did and who showed.
Good shooting boys.... make us proud! http://www.jesseshunting.com/forums/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smiley-thumbs-up-aqua.gif

Hey Greg,
I was out there Sunday. The gal there told me they're setting up a sporting clays course for Thursday nights. 50 clays for $20, with prizes at the end of summer, I think you need to turn in 10 cards. Sounds fun, but I'm letting the kids shoot more now so the cost is a bit much. She said the Thursday night 3 for the price of 4 is still on, only fewer fields due to the sporting clays event.
I wanted to get out this week, wouldn't you know it, the boys are in the playoffs so it's little league for a bit more. Hope to get out there soon with you guys.

They have the league going, but you can still shoot the fields not being used. The wife and I are thinking about going around 5:30-6pm. We might do the league just for the heck of it, or just shoot. We haven't decided.
Hope to see someone out there. If anyone has stickers for sale and you plan on going, please bring a couple. I need to buy two.

You know . . . that happened to me last time I went. I guess they had some sort of Charity Shoot. I wish that all these places that go and spend money on a website would do us all a favor and feel free to update them once in a while. I guess I need to learn and give them a call. It chapped my hide after driving 40 minutes to find out that it's closed. Not even a sign at the gate. I drove around and finally figured it out for myself.
The only problem I have is that Trible B's is it's twice as far.

I would rather drive twice as far and shoot at a range that is opened, also 3-B's is a much nicer range then prado with 3 times as many fields lameduck and I shot 2 rounds last night one with 2 other guys and one just us.
3-B's is always opened to the public even when there having a major shoot there.

Well, we made it to Prado last night, no other JHPers, just my son and me. There were only 3 or 4 other shooters there. The boy is starting to hit 'em, I get a real kick out of seeing that. I let him use my gun, he likes it...that's trouble. Next week it's the other son, happy shooting.
I need to get that JHP cap pin as an identifier, kind of awkward when you ask a group if they know about JHP and they give you that blank stare like you're some kind of Amway salesman or something.
