My hunting club that I belong to is raffling off as the top prize a trip for 2 in Bama .I know the date is around Jan 15. What's the weather like ? More importantly what are the deer like and what are the general regulations? I never win anything but can dream .... let me know any details that you can think of especialy any special or diffrent laws .
Thanks,

I am in South Alabama...Coffee County.
Deer are generally small but plentiful, especially through the mid section of the state. Limit of deer is 2 per day for the whole season. Only one per day can be a buck but you can shoot two does per day if you want to. Most of the hunting is from stands, often over food plots. According to the area you are hunting, Jan 15 will most likely hit the rut or pre rut. Last 2 weeks of the season (closes Jan 31) are the best time to hunt in my area. Like I said, the deer are often small in Alabama but Quality Deer Management is catching on in Bama and things are probably getting better. On the other hand, if you are from Vermont, the liberal limits and some areas where deer are think as rabbits should be exciting to you! Hope you win the hunt.

Hey thanks for the reply I'll fill you in if I win but don't hold your breath. The backwards raffle is this afternoon the odds arn't too bad only 100 tickets but I'll be lucky today and get pulled first and not last.I'll let who ever win know the details on the rut . The way today started I definatly won't plan on anything .Took my youngest daughter (9) out for the first day of youth turkey weekend and it was pouring while we walked to our blind the temp was about 34* and about 10 min into it the wind started blowing about 5-10 mph we only lasted until 8:30 when she called it .If I was by myself would have called it earlyer I was frozen stiff. The turkeys were gobbling on the roost but they were henned up .Tommorows supposed to be better weatherwise and we'll give it another go. Thanks again and good hunting jlccoffee !
