58th Annual Big Bass Fishing Rodeo & "Fish-t-val"
New Orleans City Park's Big Bass Fishing Rodeo, a hallowed urban fishing tradition, adds a new festival-like atmosphoer to the 58th annual event to be held on April 5, 2003.
Craftsman, food vendors and educational exhibitors have been invited to the BellSouth sponsored event this year, one of the oldest continuosly run freshwater fishing competition in the country, said Mark Becker, 2003 Event Chairman.
Registration for City Park's Big Bass Fishing Rodeo is $5 for adults and $2 for kids (ages 12 and under) and is held from 4 to 9 a.m. at the Park's historic Popp Bandstand. Fishing begins at 5:30 a.m. and continues until 11 a.m. when weigh-in begins. From 10 a.m. - 2p.m. participants enjoy live Cajun and Country music, a casting competition for kids, duck carving and fly tying demonstration, casting demonstrations by the area's finest fly casters and door prizes. An award ceremony is held at noon.
