Four New Deer Confirmed to Have CWD

State wildlife experts say more whitetail deer have tested positive for Chronic Wasting Disease in Wisconsin. On Friday, the Department of Natural Resources confirmed that four deer killed in the state has CWD--including the first case found in Sauk County.
The DNR says the newest discoveries bring the number of infected deer to 62. State Wildlife Administrator Tom Hauge says most of the newer cases have been coming from a relatively small area.
"That is good news for our state," Hauge said. ""If you got to have CWD, it is relatively good news to have it contained in one spot."
Hauge says the Sauk City deer was killed in a park by law enforcement officers who throught the animal was acting abnormally.
CWD creates sponge-like holes in the deer's brain, causing the animal to grow thin, act abnormal and die.
