Somebody say something about a fly swap http://www.jesseshunting.com/forums/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smiley-bag-on-head.gif
Gimme a day or two and I 'll work out the details

OK with a little cut and paste help from Fly Swap I (thanks Songdog)
Here are the details:
You need to tie two flies of the same pattern for each person in the swap. Why two? Because if you're like me, you want to fish with one and keep one around as a pattern for your own tying.
I would imagine that we'll get somewhere around 7-10 people in the swap so you'll be tying fewer than 20 flies, not too bad. We'll stop the sign ups 3/1 so you know how many to tie. If you come along after that, don't worry, I'm sure we'll do more.
I'll collect the flies and redistribute them to everyone in the swap. If everyone can tie the flies by 3/15 then I'll get then packaged up and back to all of you by 3/22.
All you have to do is post a message with your name and the pattern that you're tying. Once you're done tying, I'll messenger you my postal address so you can drop them in the mail. After I get all the flies, you'll get a box back with all of the different patters from everyone else in the swap.
When you send the flies, make sure you list the name of the fly and the materials used.
To summarize:
3/1 Sign up with a post on this thread
3/15 Target date to have flies tied and mailed to me
3/17-3/22 Flies mailed out to particpants
This will give me some practice with my newly learned skills.
Good Luck and start Tying!!

Any theme or requests on patterns? All I know is that Ranchwife sent me a frame a while back with a really cool woven body BWO that would amaze all you guys if we can talk her into tying a few of them (Julie, hint, hint? http://www.jesseshunting.com/forums/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smiley-yellow.gif )

Yes, I can be convinced to do the woven BWO. http://www.jesseshunting.com/forums/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smiley-biggrin-aqua.gif
Guess I need to get to work on them because they take a while!!

I'm going to keep to something basic (I've only been doing this for twoweeks)probably something along the lines of a wooly bugger or wooly worm. Maybe some of you pro tyers can dazzle us newbies with your grace and skill. http://www.jesseshunting.com/forums/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smiley-cool-shades-down.gif
As far as themes or patterns I'm open to anything. If we can get some guys and gals from the midwest and east to sign up I may get the opportunity to use some of those patterns on a road trip this summer. http://www.jesseshunting.com/forums/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smiley-biggrin-aqua.gif

I am in if people want some saltwater patterns. I tie up a bunch or clousers or surf fishing patterns. They can also be used for trout and other freshwater fish. Probably an all around surf grub pattern or clouser. Will be tying up a bunch of other stuff at the same time for an upcoming mexico trip. I can tie them in a #4 so they can be used for freshwater species too.

Karstic and others -
I hate to do this, but I have a very full plate the month of March - and it seems to be getting more full http://www.jesseshunting.com/forums/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smiley-banghead-yellow.gif - so I am going to have to pull out of this fly swap. I apologize! I will participate in the next one though!!

This is the final list
karstic wooly worm
pitdog Matukas
songdog ???
hronk clouser or bonefish fly
josh y. clouser or surf grub
It looks like we will be tying 8 flies each (or 10, if you want 2 of your own flies). Send me a PM when you are finished tying your flies and I will send you my mailing address. Let's try to have them tied up and sent to me by the 15th or there abouts.

How about some steelhead flies if I can find the materials? If not then some itty bitty #24 mosquitos that seem to work really well on finicky back country Easter Sierra natives...

Josh Y. and Steve
I have your flies sitting on my desk. Do you want them back or should I trade them among the three of us?
pitdog
07-12-2003, 04:50 PM
I'm up for trading among the three of us or asking if anyone else is interested. Perhaps a new thread to try to gain some new interest?
Josh Y.
07-14-2003, 09:37 PM
If no one else is joining us, just trade them among the three of us. I almost completely forgot about the flies.
