AGFD
2/9/03
The Arizona Game and Fish Department has some unique gift ideas for those of you who haven’t yet found the perfect Valentine’s Day gift.
Women are increasingly interested in shooting for safety, sport, hunting and competition. Help her find the perfect firearm and introduce her to the Arizona Game and Fish Department’s Ben Avery Shooting Facility through the Annie Oakley Sure Shots program. Women are invited to learn about firearms and firearms safety at a structured, hands-on program held every Thursday night from 7- 9 p.m. It is open to all skill levels, from beginner to expert.
The Ben Avery Shooting Facility also has a checklist of things to look for when buying a gun for a woman. For more information or to get the checklist, call 623-582-8313 or visit their web site at basfaz.com.
Another idea: sign your sweetie up for the Becoming an Outdoor Woman program to be held in Prescott April 4-6. This program gives women 18+ an opportunity to learn about hunting, fishing and other related activities in a relaxed, informal atmosphere. Participants will learn skills like gun safety, shooting, angling (including fly fishing), camping, dutch-oven cooking, map and compass reading and marksmanship (both rifle and bow). There are also classes in wildlife, wildlife photography, wildlife habitat, bird watching, canoeing, kayaking, rappeling and more. For more information or to register, contact AWF at bow@azwildlife.org or call 480-644-0077.
Perhaps a license is just what you need for your special valentine. The Arizona Game and Fish Department offers hunting and fishing licenses that are good through December of this year, giving you ample opportunities for quality time with your sweetheart or with the family.
If your significant other is a bookworm or a photo buff, the department’s Wildlife Views magazine may be the perfect gift. The magazine is published bi-monthly and contains lots of beautiful photography and interesting articles about goings-on around the state. And best of all, a subscription is just $8.50. To subscribe call 1-800-777-0015.
For information on buying a license or other information, visit the department’s web site at http://www.azgfd.com or call 602-942-3000.
