ODFW Point of Sale agents in Southwest Oregon down
until Qwest crews can repair damaged communications line;
anglers will need to purchase daily pre-paid licenses


PORTLAND — Qwest Communications has notified the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife that land telephone line and fiber optic cable service to Southwest Oregon was knocked out earlier today when an underground communication line between Myrtle Point and Coquille was damaged by a landslide. Some cell phone systems also were affected. Qwest expects the line to be repaired late this evening.

Until power is restored, anyone wanting to buy a fishing license will need to do so at Point of Sale agents that sell pre-paid licenses.

Anyone who had planned to buy an annual fishing license today, but who was forced by the communications outage to buy a pre-paid daily license, may send ODFW the daily license along with a written request to have the amount of the daily license credited toward the purchase of an annual license.
