Comment on early-run king fisheries
At its March meeting in Anchorage, the Board of Fisheries will consider management options for early-run king salmon fisheries in the Kenai and Kasilof rivers. The plan aims to ensure adequate escapement of early-run kings. The Fish Board faces such issues as genetic impacts from selective harvest, protection of spawning fish, and balancing dependable fishing opportunities while allowing for consumption. Anyone may submit recommendations. Comment deadline is Feb. 7, 2003.
For information, contact the department's Web site at http://www.state.ak.us/adfg/boards/fishinf...naiproposal.htm (http://www.state.ak.us/adfg/boards/fishinfo/kenaiproposal.htm). The board meets March 17 to 27 at the WestCoast International Inn, 3333 W. International Airport Road. Contact Diana Cote in Juneau at diana_cote@fishgame.state.ak.us or 1-907-465-6095 for an agenda.
