Goliad SP - Las Pastorelas - Experience what it was like to be a Mission Indian of the 18th century, learning about the Spanish culture and religion. Las Pastorelas, shepherd's plays, are believed to have been created in the early 16th Century by Spanish Franciscan priests who used familiar cultural tools such as song and dance to share their religious dramas with the Mesoamericans. They were likely performed at Mission Espiritu Santo in the 1700s. Members of San Antonio's Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, perform the presentation of the "travails of the shepherds as they make their way to the Baby Jesus and are beset by the temptations of Lucifer." 1-3 p.m.; fees $2 adults, $1 senior citizens, free children 12 and under. Government Canyon SNA - Mountain Bike Clinic - CLASS IS FILLED. This clinic is designed for beginners and intermediate level riders. Minimum age is 18 years old. A bicycle helmet and at least 50 ounces of water required to ride on the trails after the clinic. Government Canyon SNA is currently unopened to public access, except for this special interpretive event, which is being held to allow the public access in a controlled manner while providing an educational experience. Donations raised will benefit our Lone Star Legacy Endowment Fund.
