I've been shoping around for a pistol recently, and the Browing Hi Power 9mm (possibly the .40) really is what I want. I've got a line on a couple Browning BDM for around $350 shipped, but I've read a lot of conflicting reports about the BDM, so I'm not sure what to do.

Truth of the matter is that I really like the hi Power, but can't swing the expense for one at this time. With that in mind, what I'd really like to start looking into is what is the best copy of the Hi Power. I see ads all over the place for guns that are either manufactured by FN, or licensed by FN, and I'm not really sure what to avoid, or what's worth looking at.

Any input appreciated.

Thanks,

Scott

There are quite a few "clones" running around. You can actually find a really great gun in some of these. The link I gave you before in the other post has lists of the differn't guns and you can ask on the forum about the differn't clones. I don't have too much experience in the clones. I have a MKIII Browning. I do know that the FN's made in Argentine are very nice. FN makes the originial Hi-Power there is a small differnece in between the Argentine and Beligum especially when it comes to collectors and price. You can pick up an armory refinished Argentine Hi-Power in the $300 range but it will be in 9mm. The Hi-Powers by Browning have went up in the last couple of years. I bought mine new for $415 in 97 and now you will find them in the $680 neighborhood. I have seen them new on

Gunbroker (http://www.gunbroker.com)

going for $550 if you keep your eye out. The .40S&W's usally run a tad more. If you want a refinished one check out the below link.....

SOG (http://www.southernohiogun.com/)

They carry the FN A for around $310 refinished, but also sale several other clones including a new Police version in .40S&W

I would definitely get in .40 caliber (that's a given), now, does it have to be a Browning?? I would rather get a SIG P226. http://www.jesseshunting.com/forums/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smiley-biggrin-aqua.gif

After spending more time than I should surfing and weighing my options, I've decided that it is going to be tough to beat the deals going on the CZ 40B, as they are less than $300 shipped right now.

Thanks for the advice,

Scott
