Public hearings set for Cabeza Prieta refuge

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service will host three public meetings next week to discuss future management plans for the Cabeza Prieta National Wildlife Refuge in southwestern Arizona. The Comprehensive Conservation Plan will guide the management and operations of the refuge for 15 years.

Meetings will begin at 5:30 p.m. with a formal presentation followed by a question-and-answer period until 8 p.m. The meetings are scheduled for:


• Tuesday at the Holiday Inn Palo Verde, 4550 S. Palo Verde Blvd., Tucson;


• Wednesday at the Ajo Community Center in Bud Walker Park, 290 W. Fifth St., Ajo;


• Thursday at the Yuma Civic and Convention Center, 1440 W. Desert Hills Drive, Yuma.
