i just heard that rem. will be chambering 700s in .300 rem saum for 2003. i wanted to soup-up a .30/06, but some of you talked me out of that. i want a 700 in a .30cal. short mag. i prefer the winchester version. i'm concerned that remington's version may not make it due to the winchester's jump on the competition. my question is, do you think there would be anything wrong with rechambering a 700 in .300rem saum to the .300 wsm? would it be possible?

With enough time and money anything is possible. It could be done but I just can't see how it would be worth it. It would be a lot easier and cheaper to sell your 700 and buy a Winchester or Browning in WSM.

Ditto SDHNTR.... And I too would go with the Winchester for the reasons you mention. I would also want the shorter action (bolt) that you would get with a new rifle verses re-chambering your existing one.

I doublt if Remington will ever catch up to Win. We'll see?!

Good Luck
