SALTWATER FISHING TRENDS:
PIERS:
Garden City Pier: Open 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. Closed Jan. - Feb. Whiting and croaker are biting shrimp.
Springmaid Pier: Open 6 a.m. to midnight. Whiting and a few black drum caught on shrimp and cut mullet.
Cherry Grove Pier: Closed Dec. - Feb. No report available.
Surfside Pier: Closed Dec. - Feb. No report available.
Folly Beach Pier: Open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Whiting are biting cut and live shrimp.
Hunting Island State Park Fishing Pier: Pier open 24 hours a day. The Nature Center is open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday - Saturday. No activity to report.
Myrtle Beach State Park Pier: Open 6 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. A few whiting hitting shrimp and cut mullet.
Apache Pier: (Myrtle Beach) Bait shop open 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. seven days a week. Anglers can fish from 6 a.m. to midnight seven days a week. Whiting caught using shrimp and cut bait.
Winyah Bay Fishing and Observation Pier: (Georgetown) Open 6 a.m. to midnight, seven days a week, free of charge. Visitors also enjoy great bird watching. No report available.
INSHORE:
Beaufort Area: Speckled trout are hitting live shrimp and live minnows in creeks. Flounder caught with live mud minnows in ocean inlets. Red drum being caught near Paris Island and in Hazard Creek with minnows and shrimp. Black drum and whiting hitting cut shrimp. Sheepshead caught using fiddler crabs.
Charleston Area: Abundant trout in the rivers are biting live shrimp or artificial grubs. Red drum in creeks and surf hitting live shrimp, minnows and cut mullet. Sheepshead around jetties, piers and pilings caught using fiddler crabs.
Edisto River/St. Helena Sound: No activity due to weather.
Cherry Grove: No activity to report.
Murrells Inlet: No report available.
OFFSHORE:
Beaufort Area: Black sea bass, blues are biting cigar minnows and squid on the bottom and an occasional king mackerel is being caught trolling ballyhoo.
Charleston Area: Black sea bass, snapper and grouper are being caught bottom fishing with minnows and squid.
Edisto River/St. Helena Sound: No activity due to weather.
Cherry Grove: No offshore activity to report.
Murrells Inlet: No offshore activity to report.
