here is a trailer I have found, look's like it is almost prefect, might need to modify it a bit, not to keen on the swivel mount, look's alittle weak, but it's going in the right direction.

Next steps in the perfect hunting bike would be the motor and gun scabbard!68923

great idea, just cant use a motor where we hunt, it's walk in or bike in only. No motor vehicle's sign's everywhere.

Thank's Nick, it's alot of fun building it so far. The next test is making a hitch for it. I have a couple of idea's, and I am open to other's, if anyone has any.

Find a pull behind kid trailer and cut off the hitch and weld it on to your trailer. No need to reinvent anything. There are lots of good designs attaching to the seat post with a long arm seems to be the simplest, but I would think down hill braking would be better if you attached to the axle.
how much does the trailer weigh?
You may want to try and get the tongue weight as low as possible. moving the wheels forward or packing to keep most of the weight over the wheels so that the trailer would almost balance itself. The single wheel is key on real rugged trails , but the two wheel set up will work fine, on realatively flat fire or access roads. Two wheels means twice the rolling friction, but double the stability.
Just my thoughs. Looks good so far.

Here is today's work on it, I added, axle support's on the outside of the trailer. And yes I can remove the wheel's, there is a hole that goes through the support's. So far it weigh's about 27 lbs. So i'm guessing maybe 30 lb's top's when finished.

I bought one two years ago for deer hunting. See if the hitch is something you can copy. pretty simple.

69033I think I found a great option on the trailer hitch.

I've got the exact same one. It works like a champ for heading in behind blocked-off logging roads!

I wish i hunted where i could ride a bike. Where do you hunt, on a prairie?

Hunter Liggett, has a few area's that are walk in only, or you can ride in.

Looks like if the trailer swing when you turn the bike, the rear wheel will rub the tongue when you make right turns.
I would suggest rigging the hitch something like a fifth wheel trailer and hook it somewhere near the seat. Or turn the tongue around and mount the swinging end on the trailer. Another word take what you have and flip the hitch 180 degree.

It's a redneck cart, NASCAR style.......left turns only!

your pretty funny there Cjack, since you opened your mouth, let's see what you can build, to pull behind your bike, and from scratch.

Looks good. Throw a couple 5 gallon buckets of water on there and see how it handles. that would be about 85 lbs like a average california buck.

Sorry BHV, just messin with ya! I'm a woodworker and my welding skills are no where near yours. I'm actually jealous. You'll have the last laugh as I'm carrying my deer out while you're cruising! It looks great!

I'd like to thank Live2Hunt, for a great idea on the hitch, and Cjack, for busting my chop's, about being like Nascar and only turning left, lol. With the hitch, being the other way, I would have sure issue's. All it need's now is paint. Thank's again guy's.

Now if you build another hitch like that on the right side of the tire, it will give you a more sturdy and centralized support and relieves the drag on the left side of the bike. Maybe rig up a quick lock and latch where you can easily hookup and unhook the trailer from the bike. Just some of my suggestion.

How about moving the trailer tires to the center of the trailer for balancing the load and lighten up the tongue weight on the hitch?
Buck Hunter Vic
02-03-2012, 03:32 PM
that's not a 1/2 bad idea, going to see how well it handle's some weight, that could be a great fix, if it need be.
Buck Hunter Vic
02-03-2012, 03:35 PM
Hmmmmmmmmmmmm maybe just make a copy of the left side, and install it the same way, and weld it at the hime joint.

Hows it haul with those wheels you have on it? Im in the proccess of building one myself mainly for next duck season to carry my jet sled and decoys. I was thinking id use some 20 inch bike tires for mine. Its looking good though, the hitch was my main worry i didnt know how i was going to make it so thank you for the ideas.
Buck Hunter Vic
02-04-2012, 05:29 AM
Yeah Johndoe your on to something, I'm not liking these wheel's that much. 1st they have plastic inside's, no metal, so they could ware out quickly, and even with a big washer, on both side's on the axle, with nut's, they tend to rattle. So I've been looking for 14" bike wheel's.

Fun looking project! Parrey, Deermagnet on here, is (or was) some sort of executive for a company that builds indestructible yet lightweight tires/ wheels for projects like yours. You might want to shoot him a PM or give him a call if your considering different wheels. I'll bet he could set you up with something perfect.

Hey Vic,
I came across this pic on another forum and thought about you. I remember mentioning about connecting your trailer to below the bike seat to make it look like a 5th wheel trailer. This one came about the idea.

Thank's L2H. I've seen similar on other bike's also. I'm mounting it almost the same way, except right above where the rear brake.Where the frame make's like an A.

This is with a new Bike, the other had a stripped crank, no worth fixing, and this is the trailer, with new tire's.

BHV very nice, what will the final LBS be on that unit ?
Buck Hunter Vic
07-05-2012, 07:33 PM
I'd say 35-40 lb's, on the trailer, it is made from a light weight ladder tree stand.

Thats not bad and you lucked out not having to make it out of old cold rolled steel. Good job.

Nice fabrication on that one and the continued modifications, better than packing or skidding out a big one. Thanks for sharing Buck Hunter Vic

Nice trailer but that thing looks big! what are the diamentions? I have a couple I made from baby stroller/trailers for duck and deer hunting. Once a deer is field dressed it can fit on the trailer no problem. The platform is anout 36x24. It solds flat and the wheels are easy to remove. I also use thexm for duck hunting. They hold two bacs of decoys, a bag of motor ducks and shaker butts plus my gun on the side. The third wheel (stroller) is nice when you encounter mud and acn't use the bike.

The trailer alone is 20"W x 48"L X 8' T, it has 7" of clearence under it, and will hold a hog up 250 lb's with no problem.
