Congressional Sportsmen's Foundation Seeking Communications Manager

The Congressional Sportsmen's Foundation (CSF) is seeking a Communications Manager to coordinate their media operations. CSF is one of the most respected and trusted organizations in the political arena promoting, protecting, and advancing the rights of hunters and anglers, and is the leader in providing access and a voice for sportsmen with elected officials, natural resource management agencies, non-governmental conservation organizations (NGO's), and sportsmen-allied industry groups across the nation.
Weekly responsibilities of the Communications Manager will include writing and placing press releases, providing media outreach to both mainstream and outdoor media, and producing and managing content of the CSF website and social media outlets. This position is also responsible for building a database and cultivating relationships with media, assisting the policy team in tracking relevant legislation, supporting the outreach team with professional branding, editing the monthly newsletter, and coordinating interview opportunities. Excellent verbal and written communication skills required and knowledge of the legislative process are recommended. This position requires a resourceful, self-motivating and creative thinker.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Create a database and cultivate relationships with mainstream and outdoor media;
• Write press releases, media advisories, and legislative issue updates;
• Develop and coordinate interview opportunities for Caucus members;
• Produce monthly newsletter;
• Maintain CSF Website Management and Internal IT and Blackberry Issues;
• Maintain CSF social media accounts - including, but not limited to Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn;
• Track federal and state legislation related to hunting and fishing;
• Support CSF Board of Directors, President, and Vice President with talking points and opinion pieces on sportsmen's issues;
• Develop a communications strategy that includes innovative approaches to elevating CSF's presence in mainstream and outdoors media; and
• Work with graphic designers and other creative service resources to create marketing materials that are on message and adhere to the graphic standards of CSF.
REQUIREMENTS:
• Bachelor's degree or higher in Communications or related field;
• Minimum 2 years work experience in communications and media;
• Ability to manage web content management system and social media accounts;
• Ability to work independently and with both the policy and outreach teams;
• Excellent proof reading, editing, and written and oral communication skills; and
• Interest and support of hunting, fishing, and professional wildlife management issues.
LOCATION: Washington, DC
