Day 1 : 11/30
I got to the ranch around 7am. I had seen a really nice 3x3 and about 6 pigs in the middle of the public road on the way in. Witch got me all excited. So I see that there were some other members on the ranch still. So I had to a nice area that I had checked out during deer season. So as Im walking down along a creek that seperates our property from the neighbors. I glass 4 different groups on the other property total of about 30-35 pigs. Ofcourse they are on the property that we cant hunt. So I went to another part of the ranch were I had seen pigs during deer season. It is some hard pines surounded by oaks. The wind was blowing in a direction that wouldnt allow me to use the easier route in. So I had to climb up some STEEP stuff to get to the top. All I have to say is WOW must have been a pig motel. Beds all over, fresh rooting, FRESH POOP!!!!!!! But where could they be???? I heard some cows mooing, and as I walked out into a clearing where the cows were. I SEE THEM!!!!!!!!! A group of about 8 that I could see only 40yrds away. I was looking for the biggest one of the group. Two little ones were feeding towards me over a hill that I could see. When they crested the top of the hill I was spotted and they all took off before I could get any shots off. So I booked it over two ridgelines and found the group single file line side hillin. As Im trying to get a steady footing on the side of a slippery hill a big red one goes into a hole in the brush followin the others. After the red one a little black one is right behind it, and then no more. SHOOT!!!!! Right before I put the rifle over my shoulder there comes a BIG spotted one bringing up the rear. So I get my rifle back up and right before it disappears into the brush I put the cross hair's on the shoulder and let the 30-06 fly. The pig jumped and ran off. I go to the spot and couldnt find any blood. I looked around for 3hrs before deciding that IT WAS A MISS!!!!!!! I couldnt find them again that day.

I was supposed to see on the property and I was so disappointed/upset in myself that I wanted to sleep in my own bed not my truck. I played the shot over and over in my head. It was less than 100yrds and down hill the bullet must have gone right over its head.

Day 2 : 12/1
Stayed in SJ

Day 3 : 12/2
I get up to the property around 6:45am. Drove through some THICK FOG on the way in. So I walked the creek bottom again. Saw more hogs on our neighboring property. Talked to some guys that had taken a pig the day before. Well I wanted to check out my hard pine hill again, and hopefully I didnt scare them off. So this time the wind allowed me to use the easier access point. So I worked my way back up to the pig motel. More fresh rooting sine day 1. Then as Im moving slow and listening to everything around me. I hear the distinctive sounds of pigs rustlin and rootin around, but I couldnt see them. They were right below me. So I slowly worked down and around the hill they were on. Now all I have to do is walk up this game trail and then they should be right in front of me. So as Im coming over the hill top and lookin forward one of them heard me. They all take off and I never even saw them. So I just stood still and didnt move cause I could still hear them behind the brush. What do ya know they started to feed their way back to me. I see two small ones, and then a black sow came out in the open. She was sniffing the air, and I could feel a slight breeze on the back of my neck. "Its now or never David!!!" I said to myself. Just as I have her in my scope she swings her head and looks right at me. Put the cross hair's on her shoulder and let the 30-06 rip. She never took another step. Blew out both shoulders and lungs.
Then came the hard part and getting her up a steep hill to the top of my hard pine hill. Then once I got her up that witch was the toughest physical act that I have ever done. Once we were at the top then the easy part and let her roll down to the bottom of the other side. Once at the bottom I was draggin her towards the truck and along came some other members in a mule and helped me the 600yrds more to my vehical. (Thanks Guys) She was probably 130-140 on the hoof. Cant wait to eat her. Ill put up pic's tomorrow.

That's a fine swine. Looks like a good shot too.

Put it right threw one shoulder and excited behind the other. 30-06 with a 180gr. remington core-lokt seem's to do the trick everytime it connects with something.

Nice looking pig! Gonna be tasty!

I've never heard of that ranch but it sounds like a great one. Sounds like its a non-guided DIY hunt. Do you need to be a member there or is it open to anyone (not open to EVERYONE, I'm obviously assumin you still need to pay,
