This is the wrong area for this question, but the "game trail cameras" section has the smartest people on JHP so, if you need to move this post, OK. There must be a way to silence that lousy "roger beep" that the cobra radios have. Anyone know how ? You know, snip a resistor, replace a relay, pop a cap in its ass ???

I don't know, but I do know my son wanted to pop one into me one day a few years ago when he had his crosshairs behind a deer's sholder and I called him on ours. 4 deer flushed like game birds. He left it off after that.

We mainly use the Motorola&#39;s and our models don&#39;t have it. However, I got a couple new offbrand radios this year for by b-day and they had the roger-beep. The volume of the conversation could be turned but the roger-beep remained the same loud tone. Luckily I read the instrucs. and found out how to turn it off. I don&#39;t know about the Cobra, but this is how you turn it off with my motorolas:
maybe worth a try.

Turn radio off
then hold down volume button while turning it back on.

Gpo I knnnnnooooowww what you mean. A friend of mine had one when we went to the WMA this year and it kept doing that, I finally turned mine off. On the Motorola T-289s that I have you can turn the "call alerts" off by: turn your radio off, hold down the "Monitor" button and press the on button. You can reverse this by doing the same thing if you need to. Maybe that will work on the "Roger stuff" for you. hope it helps, bat

GPo, I did a search on the Cobra but it did not show anything about the "Roger beep" turnoff, but it did give me a link you might can use. Use this a request a schematic of the unit you have maybe you can spot the area that could be changed. Hope it helps, bat

Got an email back from Cobra with a schematic of the FRS220 circuitry on how to disable the "Roger Beep"

It&#39;s the last JPG on my "trail cam pics" album if anyone is interested.
