Hey Guys!
Anyone been out to Camp Roberts or Ft. Hunter Liggett recently? If you have, what have you seen?

I hunted Roberts during the big game hunt. I walked a good 35 miles during the hunt. Saw some pig droppings that were a few days old and rooting from who knows how long ago. Things are dry and the cover is pretty good. Spoke to a guy that busted a couple of pigs while humping through the brush. I tried hiking brushy canyons and just ended up with poisen oak. There is water at the usual spots.
There were a couple of pigs taken during the hunt.

No dogs allowed at either camp roberts or FHL. I was working at camp roberts last week and it rained pretty good. My property isnt much further away and the ground softened up a bit. I dont know what the deal is with the acorn crop around these parts. The acorns are falling at the higher elevations and the hogs at least at my place are hanging at the top of the mountains. The hogs are travelling much further for water but I guess feed is at a premium. When I hunted last weekend I started at the lower drainages where the ground was softest, wettest and coolest. But it seems the hogs would rather be at the dry mountain tops. Didnt make sence to me but there were numerous herds up top.
Still looking for property to run dogs....

I have hunted Camp Roberts now for 2 years ( 4 trips) and have only seen 1 pig taken ( not by me). I have seen plenty of signs of pig. I have also seen other game out there as well, turkey, quail, cottentail, jackrabbit, coyote and the elk. I hear that Liggitt is better, I want to hunt that sometime soon. I am about ready to break out the check book and do a guided hunt.
