I've been trying to stream footage on our website. My webmaster tells me that we can stream mp4 and mov (quicktime) files only.
I bought Quicktime Pro and I use Vegas Video 3.0 for my capture, editing and rendering. I also bought the "Streaming Media Bible".
This stuff is a major pain in the butt. I wasn't having succes trying to stream using 56k settings in Vegas, so I did a custom setup. It worked great at home on a 56k modem (usually connecting at 28.8). However, when I went to work and tried from my Lan (governement access - I should have one of the fastes connections out there), the movie didn't stream very well. ...usually the download stays ahead of the play location but this was not happening. In fact when it stopped, I was expecting the download to continue but it didn't. I kept having to hit the play button withing quicktime.
So Im wondering if its my server or if Quicktime is just crap? ....from what I can tell Vegas is great. Before I was using shareware to capture, another shareware to edit and render. The resulting avi (pre-streaming version) was crap.
Anyone have any comments about streaming quicktime files??
