Hike of the Week: Silver Lake — American Fork Canyon (Utah County)

Granite mountain walls, lush vegetation and waterfalls are the landscape that leads to Silver Lake in American Fork Canyon. The trail begins at the already picturesque Silver Lake Reservoir and climbs a dirt trail peppered with boulders. It climbs mainly north, with east and west switchbacks. Aspen trees provide a bit of shade at the beginning and middle of the hike. There is an easy creek crossing about a mile in on the trail. The trail then turns left.
