Does anyone hunt at this base? WHat do you think about the hunting here? For pigs and Blacktails. I will be hunting there for the G11 archery and muzzloader season the last two weekends.

Matthews, welcome to Jesses. Great bunch of people here. Lots of info and good conversation.
As to Vandenburg, I don't know about the deer hunting, but according to some articles I've read in Cal. Hog Hunter, the pig hunting is supposed to be excellent.

Matthews, Just got back from VAFB about an hour ago. Went up pig hunting for the weekend. The only thing I can say is this. If you haven&#39;t been up there hunting before, do your best to get up there a day or two early. That is one HUGE base with lots of land to hunt. I&#39;m not sure if your going either sex or buck only, but there is deer everywhere......and I mean everywhere. As for the pigs, they tell me there is alot on the base, but hunting from Saturday until today, I only seen one pig. Anyway, good luck to you and make sure to let us know how you did...

i can almost gaurantee you a deer. they are everywhere.try the east side of area four. not many people go that far in.

I live thirty minutes away from there. Can anbody hunt there? If so how do you go about it? I know there is lots of deer there, I&#39;ve seen them. I didn&#39;t know they allow hunting. http://www.jesseshunting.com/forums/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smiley-yellow.gif

You have to be current or retired military to hunt there after 9-11-01.

Yes I have hunted here before, and would agree that the hunting is awesome. I am stationed at Camp Pendleton and I am in the USMC. To hunt on VAFB you must be millitary. I will be going up to pig hunt on NOV 23 and the 24. I have an archery tag for buck only which I can use NOV 30 to DEC 15. I wont make it up there for buck untill Dec 7-8 and Dec 14-15. I will let you guys know how I do. Thanks for your input.

MATTHEWS, I&#39;m just wondering if you hunting there this past weekend? Met a bunch of marines from Pendleton this past weekend. Wondering if you may have been one of them.

No I havent been up there since the July season for buck.
