Coming up next weekend, May 1-2, is a great shoot devoted to traditional archery.
Limited to longbows and recurves only, the Conejo Valley Archers annual Pacific Coast Traditional Challenge (http://www.cvarchers.com/downloads/TraditionalChallenge2010.pdf)is in its 19th year.
Saturday will be 30 targets, Sunday will be 20 targets. Targets will include a speed round, running pig, pop-up pig, and a steel deer (I don't have the faith, I always bring a trash arrow for that one).
Lunch and dinner will be available for purchase on Saturday, breakfast and lunch will be available Sunday.
The club has a special arrangement with the county for camping in the park right next to the range, see the flyer linked above for more details as well as a map to the range.
This is a great shoot, almost as good as the Chamberlin Ranch shoot. CVA puts a lot of effort into making this a fun shoot and I look forward to it every year. If any JHO members make it out I'd love to meet you. I'll have the Greenman Archery booth set up in the main area. Stop by the green Ez-up and say hi. If I'm out on the course my girlfriend will be there.
I'll tell you what, Tell me your screen name and JHO members will get a free strip of my homemade beef jerky. I sold out of it at the Chamberlin shoot but I've been making more.
