well, I guess it depends on where you are at. Here in Alaska, we have red fox and they don't tend to go into cubbies often. Viscera of other animals would work, but the main ingredient will be the lure used. One thing I noticed this year on fox is that the skunky type lures don't work very well. I think the reason is obvious, there's no skunks up here and it is a foreign smell. Plain fox urine will work too. Use anything for bait and try a variety of lures.
Place the traps were there are fox...obviously.
Thanks for the replies. If you have any ideas or tips on cage trapping RED fox this please let me know!!

My cage trapping experiences never included foxes, but shouldn't vary much from say coon or other animals. Make sure the trap is secure, does NOT move at all when stepped into, cover/camoflage well, no human secnt, bait/ lure for fox, (this differs from area to area/ the same as your taste to my taste). EXPERIMENT, that's the name of the game when it comes to trapping. Also it helps to keep a log/diary when doing this hobby. Good luck.

Cages really don't work for fox, there pretty smart and fairly skittish. But snares work wonders. Definitely stick to using viscera or fish for bait. But again, it all really depends on your state laws.

The ins and outs are far too many to describe here. Look up videos on trapping with cage traps. Buy one. Do what it says. You will get them.
