I have always wanted to learn to hunt, but I don't have any friends or family who are hunters. I am an avid fisherman, hiker, camper, etc., and would like to become a successful hunter.
With that said, I am completely green. I don't know much about rifles, ammo, tracking, animal behavior, or California hunting locations. I've only lived in California (Los Angeles) for a year.
I'm 37, a Registered Nurse in Los Angeles, and eager to learn anything anyone is willing to teach me.
So, if any seasoned hunters are willing to take on a green hunting partner, I promise to do my best to learn! I'm willing to travel, so i'm open to a reasonable drive of a few hours in all directions. Thanks. Robert.

If you guys are trying to PM the OP, you might want to look at it a little more. This is his only post and it was in Nov-09. I dont think you'll be hearing back from him.

Well, I'm taking my class next weekend at Triple B. Then off to Turner's. I've posted in a couple threads around, then found this mentor section. I'm mostly interested in birds right now, since I only have a shotgun. I do want to hunt a pig and turkey as soon as possible. It seems as though it is legal to hunt pig with a shotgun, but I've yet to hear of a success story! I live in Torrance. Willing to scout birds within a couple hours of LA on the weekends here and there.
