DFG OFFERS SPECIAL GAME BIRD HERITAGE JUNIOR PHEASANT HUNTS AT HIGHLAND SPRINGS, LAKE COUNTY

Now is the time to apply for the special junior pheasant hunts in Lake County. Permits for two special pheasant hunts for licensed junior hunters will be issued by drawing. To be eligible, youths must have successfully completed a hunter education course and possess a valid Resident Junior Hunting License. The junior pheasant hunts will be held on Lake County Flood Control District property, located at the southern end of Highland Springs Road at the shooting range area, approximately 6 miles south of the City of Lakeport. The hunts are scheduled as follows:

A.M. HUNT Saturday, November 16, 2002 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon
P.M. HUNT Saturday, November 16, 2002 *1:00 p.m. to 4:55 p.m.
Junior hunters interested in a permit must apply in writing on a standard Postal Service size post card listing their:

Mailing Address
Telephone Number
2002-2003 Junior Hunting License Number
Name of Adult Chaperone
Desired Hunt (A.M or P.M.)
Second Choice
If the first hunt choice has been filled, applicants will be assigned to their second choice (if another choice is indicated and it has not been filled). Two junior hunters may apply together if they want to hunt together. Be sure to complete all of the information for each hunter on the post card.
Submit written applications (postcard) to: Highland Springs Junior Pheasant Hunt, Department of Fish and Game, P. O. Box 47, Yountville, CA 94599. All applications must be received by October 31, 2002, for a drawing on November 1, 2002. A total of 40 permits will be drawn (20 each hunt), and all successful applicants will be notified by mail.
One adult, 18 years of age or older who may not hunt but must have a hunting license, is required to accompany and supervise every two junior hunters. Licensed adult chaperones will be available for the hunts. Please specify on the application if you need a chaperone. Any vacancies after the drawing will be filled first-come, first-served basis through receipt of applications. Questions concerning these special youth pheasant hunts should be directed to Allan Buckmann, Department of Fish and Game at (707) 944-5537.
* A barbecue lunch with hot dogs and hamburgers will be provided beginning at noon
