My friend put a 100 amp PM alternator in his custom '70 El Camino for the Rt.66 car show and it charged intermittedly so he had to get jumped several times. It is OEM hook up or single wire.He put the stock 63 amp unit back in 'til the replacement came in and had no problems charging his Optima Red Top.Well, the replacement is doing the same thing as the 1st PM 100 amp unit. The alternator seems to be keeping the field charged after shut down and running the battery all the way down.Cheapo diode trio ? Has anyone had any dealings with this company ? Does anyone know of a reliable alternator in the 100 amp range? He's been driving this truck daily since '75 so he's gonna fix it or drive everyone nuts 'til he does.TIA

Could it just be that the replacement units are defective? I went through 3 from NAPA before I got one that was good. Possibly when they put them back together the wiring harness gets flipped? I'm at a loss.
