Hello!

I joined this forum about 5 years ago. Was around for a while, didn't post too much, but really enjoyed reading everything.

Life got in the way, and using the net for leisure went away.

Well, I'm back. I couldn't remember my old user name or anything! I've probably changed emails 5 times in as many years, so I just re-registered. Moved 4 times in that time period too.

Anyway, I always loved this site. I live in California, Bay Area-ish. Hunt pig, deer, bear, and surf fish whenever I can. Use bolt actions, lever actions, and AR's. Just depends on what I'm hunting and what mood I'm in right before I leave.

Just getting into coyote hunting too. Which means I haven't done it yet, but trying to learn before I try. Wish me luck.:JHO rocks:

Hey man ! I saw ur post about hunting coyotes and wanted to share some info. There is a good article in field and stream dec08-jan09 issue. alot of info to help you.
Coyotes see and smell really well, so keep that in mind. Most dogs you will see, will approach from dow wind,so set-up facing there. when moving ur head to look around,be slow and cautious. One of the hardest things to do is remaining still.
I generally call in semi brushy ares and use the 12ga. because the shots are fast! you don't always see them until they are on you. And they are fast !
once they see you, they make every attemp to get behind cover, can you blame them?Like there life depends on it....as it most surely is.
I have called them in the forest too, where you see them sitting up high and look'in for the sound.
Get a mouth blown cotton tail call. Don't over-due the calling or call too much!I generallycall with great emotion into it for a couple breaths and wait for 5-8 minutes. If one is close and fooled you will see him. if nothin shows
i'll call again and wait for longer the second time.
You don't want to let them pin-point you if you can help.
They will get a good idea where to come in short order. The less calling you do will improve your chances.Wind is a factor as in all hunting,so when its blowing hard I don't hunt.

Good luck...................Razor
