Anybody know how to get rid of the white look on the pictures? ###I know its from the flash but how can you reduce it?

Insulate around the lens better. ###More foam or whatever you are using. ###This looks like a little flash bleed.??.

They always seem to come out in the middle of the night. Good pictures. ###Is that a feeder in the back ground? ###Looks like a five gallon bucket. ###Hanging from the tree limb. ###

BurleyOne

Yes that is a feeder a 5 gallon bucket with some 3/4" holes drilled in the bottom i have watched a few deer bump it to get the corn out it works pretty good and keeps other animals from getting to it.

I have added a few new pictures to my website... the link will open to gallery1 and the new pics are the last two rows.... three of them are filler to satisfy my desire for symmetry.

scanners just don't do it justice... but I have about four more worth scanning and putting up. The deer coming toward the camera seems to have a post-rut neck...might a buck done dropped calcium...what do you guys think?

Nice pictures hamiltoe, looks like you have a good many deer to chose from. ###Hey did you see the new proposal on the limit this coming season.....12? ###Who in the world needs a limit of 12?

That's crazy isn't it!? ###Usually 2 a year is all me & my wife can eat in a year. ###Almost like having a bag limit of quail or something...

Hamiltoe, really enjoy your pictures. That coyote, do you think that maybe the sun has anything to do with him being dark? I see the shadows on the ground in front of the coyote and the trees, and I think that maybe he is a lot lighter than what the camera is showing. If the sun is shinning towards your lense, it is going to give some of your picture a dark look. ###Just my thoughts. If he is that dark, that is a first for me. Again I like the pictures.

hamiltoe

Curtiss,
I wasn't sure at first, but after comparing all of the other daytime photos in the same place, I think the coyote is dark colored. ###I compared the shades of tree bark on the other photos and the bark colors are not much different than what is in the coyote picture. ###We'll never be for sure though, sunlight can play tricks...hopefully I can get another picture of it to verify...

Nice deer, Did you harvest any of them?

Jimmy Jones
06-12-2002, 11:49 AM
No, I never harvested any of the bucks that I had pics of. ###Although I did have a chance to shoot some of the smaller ones. ###I was fortunate enough to harvest that eight pointer and the wieird 15 pointer (in the Misc. album on the same page) last bow season. ###We practice QDM on this land and don't allow gun hunting.

jimmy,
i would gun hunt maybe the last week of the season and get rid of some of the trashy genes that are in the herd. this will not eliminate the gene in the does!!!! people forget that other side of the pool. but you have very nice foodplots and it seems to be attracting lots of game. we all love to bowhunt but, to increase the herds potential, we have to eliminate some of the " culls". depending on the acreage i would consider shooting some culls with maybe kid hunts....if ya have 400 acres you may as well shoot them cause any land around ya will blastem. you can not effectively manage small parcels of land. If a bowhunter is needed to satisfy the large buck concentration please let me know....my number is 555-3927,,,,weeeeeeeee ###great! steve

Bohunter;
Thanks for the suggestions. ###We do have a lot of Doe's, and they make great hunts for beginners and kids. ###There are a few "wacked" out looking racks in our area, but they are old bucks as well and aren't easy to find. ###As most mature bucks! ###The "funky" buck I shot last season was not due to genes. ###He was either hit ###by a car or had a horn riped off in a fight the prior season. ###After looking at the skull, there was proof of serious trama. ###Which made the right horn to grow in such a weird way. ###There is a lot of bucks out here which creates a lot of competition and fights. ###Broken horns are a regular:cry-blue: ###
Although it also makes us pass them up for another year, so that can be a good thing.

Bohunter, that is a great buck you have there. ###It doesn't look like any Florida deer. That s no Cous Deer or what ever they are called. Where did you get that boy, I'm guessing Iowa or Ill.

Cant wait for season!!!!!

Well Jimmy,
I was able to harvest this buck in Lacon, Illinois last November 5th. 2002. He scores Pope and Young 150 7/8 gross, and nets 142 6/8. He is 11 pointer and weighed 265lbs. This place was awesome...corn fields everywhere and the most valuable of all SOYBEANS... Huge ridges with hardwoods. Unbelievable hunt it was on PRIVATELY LEASED 250 ACRES, there are lots of land that im sure no one hunts at all. Large fields with tiny lots with trees like 5 acre and wooded fence rows. Totally different hunting from Florida and Alabama. worst of all, the wind will blow ya out of a tree ###in october...25+ steady....make ya find large trees... There is always a meaning to everything and this buck has meant more to me than anything as far as an accomplishment. I have missed so many deer with my bow and to tell ya the truth this is my first deer with a bow! I have 13 bent arrows and Im not sure how many dull broadheads. Wasted tyme and excuses are all forgotten. I hope and wish all that read this the same happiness that I have felt in my most memorable hunt Ive had. If it doesnt mean much, well ya haven't understand the meaning of hunting. I appreciate the chance to tell a lil about him and hope to see ya soon...BTW.. I had a cam 20 yards fom him on a scrape...he was not on the film!!!!

Finally found out how to do this stuff...hopefully! ###Look just over the fawn's right ear and you can see the doe standing back in the thick stuff! ###Found a pretty good place to put my cam behind the house after just getting a couple of picture a week up the branch from where it is now. ###Still waiting for the "Big Buck", he's in there just haven't got him yet. ###bat ### ### ### http://community.webshots.com/user/batcam

using Canon PF with RS pir and experimenting with using a UV len over the flash area, will place another the next time using just glass over the flash to compare.

These were taken in Northwest Iowa, near Spencer. ###Probably the least desirable part of the state. ###Where bouts are you from and how's your deer looking?

Welcome to the forum. ###

It doesn't look like there is an "end" to that corn field. ###How big is it ?

arrowsmith
08-19-2002, 08:01 PM
Probably only about 65 acres, but being northwest Iowa, corn and soy bean fields are plentiful.
