Here's a pic of Dan Viera's A-zone blacktail buck from last week (09/05/02).

Nice looking deer, especially for A-zone. Dan can tell the tale.

Is it me, or does that sucker have a huge head? He looks a lot like a muley, not necessarily a blacky. He's a biggun. Congrats.

Dan, buy the bear tag!

Nice deer...I think that one snuck into A zone. Never seen one that big there, except out at Point Reyes on private land. http://www.jesseshunting.com/forums/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smiley-rolleyes-green.gif

Thank you Speckmisser for getting that posted for me. The story behind this buck is posted under " 4th weekend results " and some follow up on the BEAR HUNTING forum under " any sightings ", from yesterday when I went up to try to kill the forkie that was with him. Don't have any GPS coordinates, but I killed him in BLM land (2 or 3 year old burn) above the Gamble Ranch that just last year opened to the public.

Great Buck! Are you going back for that bear?

Thought about going back for the bear, only if this weather cools down next week. It was tuff getting the deer out of there, I can imagine how much fun it would be on a 3 or 4 times larger critter. If I do I think I'll bring my wheel barrel with me and some help, more work than I want to do alone. Same reason my buddies can't talk me into elk hunting, I'll only do that with a guide and horses.
