Hey Kids! What are YOU Doing Outdoors?
6/19/08
Patti Solomon, co-host of nationally syndicated outdoor radio show, "Xplor the Outdoors with Jim and Patti" broadcast LIVE every Sunday morning from 7-9 on AM1060 the Fan and around the globe on http://www.xplortheoutdoors.com, is proud to announce the debut of her new radio show titled, "Xplor the Outdoorz KidzTM", beginning Sunday, June 22nd from 8-9am.
"With all the single parent families in the US or with both parents working to achieve the American dream, kids are left to themselves in front of the electronic babysitters of our day. The computer, video games and television have become the only reality millions of children know. What a shame", Patti protests.
While these three sitters may lead to better hand/eye coordination, poor eyesight and obesity. They don't teach a kid about responsibility, self-reliance, self-sufficiency or reality. "It scares me to think that if the trends keep on as they are, by the year 2010 the obesity rate in kids will be 50%." Explains husband and co-host Jim Solomon.
Both Patti and Jim have a history of working with homeless and under privileged children, Patti in San Francisco and Jim in Phoenix. From their experiences with children Patti came up with the kids show concept for "Xplor the Outdoorz KidzTM".
The show will be entirely about kids from the ages of 5-16. We want them to come and talk about their outdoor experiences with grandma, grandpa, mom, dad, friends well you get the idea. Each segment will be thirteen minutes long and each guest will be able to share their favorite experience hiking, climbing, camping, planting a vegetable garden, horse back riding, hunting, fishing, even whitewater rafting. No matter what the experience it's all about the kids and it's all about the outdoors. We want kids to contact us with their ideas for upcoming show segments.
"We want this show to enable, empower and enlighten all kids who listen and take part in the program to realize that reality lies outdoors not in a box. Huh,I guess that gives new meaning to the phrase, "Thinking OUTSIDE the box", chuckled Patti.
