I was looking for a good load for my 300 rum. Last year i loaded 180 sst
useing H4831 i was not real impressed with the round. I would like to use
165 sst,3300fps or 180 at the same vel.
Thank's for any feed back!

Try 93 to 96gr of RL25 with the 180's.The lightest bullet I've shot is the 178gr A-MAX.And I have gotten velocity's over 3400 with RL25....Am testing Retumbo now in two of my 1000 yard Bench Rest gun's chambered in 300 Ultra......Thing's look good so far....

mine is the 700BDLSS with 3.5 to 10x50 Leupold and the Shilen trigger.
165`s love RL22 and as Boyd says the 180 and 95 grs RL25 is going to be hard to beat.I have gotten 3435 with the 180 Balistic Tip and RL25 with very small groups.

my loads with any of the RL powders are more consistant with the standard
Fed Gold Medal primers.with the magnums the velocity spread increases and
accuracy falls off.

I agree with everyone else, I was using 7828 and got tired of getting bashed in the head with my scope. I switched to Re25 for 180 GS's, and it re-duced the felt re-coil (to my head) and also improved the accuracy and lessened my fear of the re-coil which can also affect accuracy.

I loaded some rounds this weekend for the 300Rum.
My best group came from RL25 with 96gn powder 215 fed primer
and Hornady 165 gn SST =3/4group =3389 fps.Not too bad
for a factory Rem 700 BDL SS.I was shocked that the recoil was not bad at all

You might try Retumbo also.....I switched from 25 to Retumbo.Accuracy got better. And I got more velocity in 3 different gun's..

I was at the range today and tried out a few .300 RUM loads you might be interested in. The first was 90gr of RL 19, Fed 215, Sierra 150 Spitzer. 3 shot group was .22", Es=37,SD=19, Avg Vel=3145. The second load was 91 gr RL 19, Fed 215, Nosler 150 Ballistic Tip. 3 shot group .45" . ES=70,SD=35,AVG Vel=3272,
I'm still working on this load, so not really finished yet . I'm looking to get an accurate 150 gr load at around 3400-3500 fps.I was trying AA3100, but was getting real inconsistent groups. The Rl 19 shows a lot of promise.
