View Full Version : FOC with carbons ?
http://www.jesseshunting.com/forums/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smiley-confused-yellow.gif Help I am having a problem getting my broadheads to fly well.
I am shooting a PSE Baby-G 70# PSE Extream 300 arrows with Magnus Snuffers 125 gr. Ok I am hitting great with field points 125gr. my broadheads are allover. I figured out my FOC my arrowas are 32 1/4" long with broadhead and FOC is 2 1/4 whitch is around 6.9. If I increase my FOC to around 11 to 14 will this help? and what do I put into the arrows to do this? I think the weight that I have to add to front of arrow is alot like around 100 pluss grains. can this be right or am I doing something wrong.

Hello Hunt,
I'm not expert here but I think I may know what you need to do. I think you will need to put a 100 grain tip on and that should get you above 10%. There is a cool link that I use to calculate these measurements, here it is,

Hope this helps.

Hunt,
Never mind with my post, I pretty much don't know what I'm talking about. Sorry about that. Just curious, what do you have for fletchings on the arrows?

Try a spin test to see if the shafts wobble...if they do rotate the head untill the wobble is gone. Also BroadHeads typically fly a bit diff. than field tips. I personnally use Muzzy 100 grain 3 blade heads which have an option that I really like and that is that they come with practice blades...same blades as the sharp hunting blades only dull. Fly the same and hit the same...it lets you practice with the same heads installed that you would hunt with all you change is the blades. Also are these new shafts? What type of fletchings? Have you paper tuned? Out on Easton's web site they have a really indepth write up on tuning your shafts. Also check over the bow and make sure it is tuned OK.

Welcome To JHP HUNT.
I have the same set up as you (pse baby G set at 70#) I shoot carbin arrows with 100 gr. field points and 100gr.NAP spitfire mechanical broadheads ,I think you should be shooting 100gr. to start , Are the limb bolts backed off the same amount of turns? This can affect your shot . Ok I've made this mistake make sure the fletching on the arrows aren't hitting , you mite need to paper tune your bow also
I had to . The babay G is a very sensitive bow
I hope this will help GOOD LUCK !

I read in some tuning manual that fixed heads fly better with 12-14% FOC. I try to keep my set-up at that and don't have any problems grouping fixed heads out to 40 yds.
